openclaw skills install @liveneon/experience-munich-oktoberfest-closing-theresienwieseThe last Sunday of Oktoberfest on the Theresienwiese, then the days the tents, rides and gates come down around you.
Spend the final Sunday of Oktoberfest on Munich's Theresienwiese. The main entrance is shut against the crowd, the gun salute fires at the Bavaria statue, and you hunt for a bench in a roaring beer tent until the sparklers come out at closing. Then stay for the teardown. Over the following days you watch showmen haul rides away, cranes lift painted facades, and steel tent skeletons come apart. The meadow slowly turns back to an empty field of gravel.
Oktoberfest closed Sunday 4 October and the official preliminary report the same day called it the most-attended in history, about 7.4 million guests over 16 days versus 6.5 million in 2025, with main entrances temporarily shut on the busiest Saturdays. Dismantling is underway now: mast sites had to be clear by 6 October while the beer tents come down through November. You are in the last Sunday crush on the Theresienwiese, brass and tent roar, steins, and side gates after the main entrances shut, then you walk the grounds on the morning after as rides leave and the world's largest folk festival is taken apart around you.

Step 1: Main Entrance Shut
The U-Bahn doors slide open and you're pushed up the stairs with fifty other bodies. The air is thick already, warm with October and beer and sweat. You climb. Your shoulders brush the tunnel walls on both sides. Someone's backpack catches your ribs. Nobody slows.
You reach the turnstiles and the sound changes. It gets louder. A roar.
The exit opens onto Theresienwiese and there are thousands. Not hundreds. Thousands. The main gates are shut. Police stand in front of them in high-visibility vests, arms crossed. A metal barrier runs the width of the entrance, and behind it, the crowd leans. Bodies pressed three-deep against the chains. The loudspeaker crackles: a German announcement, then English. The words wash over you. "Entry is now limited." "Bitte warten." Another gun salute booms somewhere in the distance, so loud the ground shifts under your feet.
You push right. The crowd doesn't want to move right. It wants the entrance. You push anyway, finding the edge of the crush, where the pressure eases just enough to breathe. The afternoon sun is pale and white. The sky is grey. You can see the tops of the beer tents from here, their striped canvas roofs and their wooden gables painted with flowers. The Ferris wheel spins slow. No line. The loudspeaker crackles again. More German you don't catch.
The man next to you has a pressed lederhosen and a fresh feather in his hat. He looks at the closed gates and back at you with a shrug that needs no translation. The barrier rattles. Someone tests it. The police don't move. Another announcement. The crowd surges. You feel the bodies press in from all sides, feel yourself part of a single organism that wants one thing. Not anger. Just want. The sound is everywhere now. Thousands of voices layered over loudspeaker German and distant carnival music and more gunshots from the Bavaria statue far across the field.
A gap opens to your left. You move toward it.
