Brie — Recipe MCP, Meal Plans & Groceries
Recipe MCP server for saving and adapting recipes, reviewed meal plans, and shared grocery lists.
Install
openclaw plugins install clawhub:brie-openclawBrie: recipe MCP server for OpenClaw
Brie is a recipe MCP server that connects OpenClaw to your saved recipes, household meal plans and shared grocery list. Import a recipe link, make a higher-protein or vegetarian adaptation, and turn recipes you want to cook into a week of dinners you can review before saving.
Your recipes and approved plans persist in Brie. Original recipe sources stay attached, adaptations keep their own versions, and saving a reviewed meal plan updates your household's shared groceries. You choose the household and permissions your assistant can use.

What you can do
| Your task | What Brie helps your assistant do |
|---|---|
| Find something to cook | Search your own saved recipe library and retrieve ingredients, directions and original sources. |
| Save a recipe you found | Import a public recipe link or pasted recipe text, follow import progress, and read the saved result. |
| Make a recipe fit your goals | Save a reviewed higher-protein, vegetarian or other adaptation as a new recipe version while keeping the original. |
| Plan the week | Read household preferences and your existing plan, then propose dinners from saved recipes for your approval. |
| Keep shopping in sync | Read and add grocery items; saving an approved meal plan also rebuilds shared groceries. |
The connection exposes 13 recipe, grocery and planning tools. Personal nutrition logs and billing are not exposed to the assistant. Recipe nutrition values, when available, are estimates attached to recipe versions.
Try: “Use my saved recipes to suggest three dinners for next week. Make one vegetarian, show me the plan, and wait for my approval before saving it.”
Account and price
Use your own active Brie Plus or Pro subscription, including an eligible trial. Plus monthly is $4.99 USD/month; eligible new subscribers receive seven days free with a payment method, then renew automatically unless canceled. Current prices, taxes and trial eligibility appear before payment at Brie signup.
Existing Brie subscribers use the same account and do not pay again. An invited household membership alone does not include personal assistant access. You do not need an iPhone to create your account or connect OpenClaw.
Install and connect
Use OpenClaw 2026.9.7 or newer. Install the Brie package from ClawHub:
openclaw plugins install clawhub:brie-openclaw
Save the server in OpenClaw's MCP settings. This lets its login command manage
the bundle's OAuth connection. If you already have a different server called
brie, review that entry before replacing it.
openclaw mcp set brie '{"url":"https://api.withbrie.app/mcp","transport":"streamable-http","auth":"oauth","headers":{"X-Brie-Capabilities":"planning-preview"},"oauth":{"clientMetadataUrl":"https://api.withbrie.app/connect/clients/openclaw.json","redirectUrl":"http://127.0.0.1:8989/oauth/callback","scope":"recipes:read recipes:write groceries:read groceries:write plans:read plans:write offline_access"}}'
openclaw mcp login brie
Open the printed link on the computer running OpenClaw. Sign in to Brie, choose your household and approve the permissions you want. The browser returns to OpenClaw's local callback. No API key, client secret or manual credential-store editing is required.
openclaw mcp status --json
openclaw mcp probe brie --json
After approval, status should report authorized. The planning catalog contains 13 tools. Begin a new assistant conversation and try:
- “Find a saved chicken recipe in Brie and show its ingredients and source.”
- “What is on my Brie grocery list?”
- “Suggest three dinners from my saved recipes. Show me the plan before saving.”
For a downloaded source directory, use openclaw plugins install ./brie-openclaw
instead. Review any capability consent shown by OpenClaw during installation.
Credentials stay in OpenClaw's local private store and refresh automatically. Brie enforces your personal plan, household membership and approved scopes for each tool call. Saving a reviewed meal plan also updates shared groceries.
Troubleshooting
- Expired approval: Use Review new request, or restart login. Do not keep retrying an expired link.
- Callback cannot open: The browser must reach the OpenClaw computer's
127.0.0.1:8989. A remote/headless host needs a secure port-forwarding setup; do not add a wildcard or public callback URL. This release's guided path is for a local desktop installation. - Client registration error: Confirm OpenClaw supports
oauth.clientMetadataUrland the exact configuration above. Do not enable anonymous registration or paste credentials into chat. - No tools in the conversation: Check
openclaw mcp probe brie --json, start a new conversation and inspect your OpenClaw tool policy. This package does not override an administrator's tool restrictions. - Plan ended: Sign in at your account to restore personal access; household membership alone is insufficient.
Revoke the connection at Brie connections.
openclaw mcp logout brie clears local credentials; it does not replace server
revocation. The plugin never changes billing or initiates purchases.
