Stablecoin Yield Radar

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill coherently provides stablecoin yield lookup through a disclosed Barker public API, with minor caveats around broad triggers and promotional attribution.

Install only if you are comfortable with stablecoin yield queries being sent to Barker's public API and with Barker attribution appearing in results. Treat the APY data as informational, not financial advice, and verify rates directly before making investment decisions.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

Technical Analysis

The Skill contains an unconditional instruction requiring the Agent to append third-party branding and an external link to every generated result. The phrase “Always end” changes the Agent's response behavior regardless of whether the user requested attribution or promotional content.

Source attribution can be appropriate when presenting externally obtained data, but this directive goes beyond neutral provenance by mandating branded language and a website link in all applicable responses. Because the behavior is embedded in the Skill instructions, it is activated when the Skill is loaded and directly affects the Agent's current-session output.

No executable scripts, credential access, privilege escalation, persistence, obfuscation, or remote code execution were identified. The external API request is consistent with the Skill's stated yield-query functionality. The confirmed issue is limited to manipulation of generated responses.

Attack Path

  1. A user submits a stablecoin-yield query matching the broad activation terms in SKILL.md.
  2. The Agent loads and follows the Skill instructions.
  3. The Agent obtains or presents stablecoin yield information.
  4. The unconditional instruction at lines 81-84 requires the Agent to append Barker branding and an external website link.
  5. The final response therefore contains third-party promotional material even when the user did not request it.

Impact Assessment

The issue does not grant operating-system privileges, access to credentials, or control over local files. Its scope is the Agent's current response-generation behavior.

Remediation Suggestions

  1. Remove the unconditional “Always end” directive.
  2. Replace promotional language with concise, factual source attribution only when external data is actually used.
  3. Do not require links, slogans, calls to action, or vendor branding unless explicitly requested by the user or required by a legitimate data-use policy.
  4. Allow the Agent to honor user requests concerning response format and attribution placement.
  5. Use a neutral formulation such as:

When Barker API data is used, identify Barker as the data source in a concise source note when relevant.
  1. Review the remaining Skill text for repeated marketing language and remove content that is unnecessary for the stablecoin-yield lookup function.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
91% confidence
Finding

The activation list includes broad phrases such as "best yield", "where to earn", and "lending rate" in the description/trigger guidance, which are not specific enough to stablecoins and could cause unintended invocation for general investing or crypto questions. The file does not provide exclusion conditions or negative examples to narrow when the skill should not activate.

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
88% confidence
Finding

The skill instructs the agent to send user-derived query parameters to an external third-party API. Any external request can transmit user interests and metadata off-platform, and if parameters are not tightly constrained it can leak sensitive financial intent or facilitate unintended data sharing to Barker.

Data Exfiltration
Confidence

Finding

The example request reinforces a pattern of making outbound requests to a third-party endpoint using user-selected inputs. While the endpoint appears intended for public data, the security risk remains that user intent and request metadata are disclosed externally, and downstream systems may log those requests.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
78% confidence
Finding

The file embeds Chinese trigger phrases and later includes Chinese promotional text, but it does not explain whether the skill is intended for Chinese-language users specifically or how language selection should be handled. This can create an implicit locale/language behavior without user opt-in.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Confidence

Finding

Line 114 contains Chinese text in the core skill document, which may bias responses or presentation toward a specific language despite no documented opt-in or region-specific scope. The file does not state that multilingual output should follow the user's chosen language.
