Openclaw Memory Qdrant

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This appears to be a real local memory skill, but it needs review because stored user-controlled memories can persist and be injected into future agent context with weak containment.

Install only if you are comfortable with a plugin storing conversation-derived memories on disk by default and injecting recalled memories into later sessions. Use it in a personal or trusted environment, consider disabling persistToDisk or autoRecall for sensitive work, avoid enabling allowPIICapture unless necessary, and review stored memories regularly.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Insecure Skill Coding PracticesFinds exploitable flaws such as hardcoded secrets or command injection
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Known Vulnerable Dependency: protobufjs==6.11.4 — 11 advisory(ies): CVE-2026-44294 (protobuf.js: Denial of service from crafted field names in generated code); CVE-2026-44293 (protobuf.js: Code injection through bytes field defaults in generated toObject c); CVE-2026-44289 (protobuf.js: Denial of service through unbounded protobuf recursion) +8 more

Category

Confidence
93% confidence
Finding

protobufjs 6.11.4 has multiple serious advisories including denial-of-service and potential code-generation/injection issues. Even though it is transitive, a lockfile pin to a critically affected serialization library is meaningful because memory/vector tooling may ingest untrusted structured data, and exploitation could crash the process or potentially affect generated code paths if used.

MCP Tool Poisoning
Confidence
93% confidence
Finding

The description is broadly aligned with the main purpose: this is indeed a local semantic memory plugin using Transformers.js embeddings and Qdrant-like storage, with no external API keys required. However, the implementation materially exceeds the declared description in a few ways. Most notably, it supports optional local disk persistence of memories via JSON files in the home directory, which is a resource access behavior not mentioned in the declared permissions or description. It also exposes memory deletion functionality and automatic lifecycle-triggered capture/recall behavior, including injecting retrieved memories into agent context. These are meaningful operational capabilities beyond the minimal declared 'store, search, and recall conversation context' summary. Therefore this is a description/behavior mismatch, though the core purpose remains related.

Tp4

High
Category
MCP Tool Poisoning
Confidence
97% confidence
Finding

The declared description centers on a semantic memory system with Qdrant and Transformers.js for storing and recalling conversation context locally. However, this code chunk is a standalone verification/test file focused on privacy protection and input-processing behavior. It tests functions like sanitizeInput, containsPII, detectCategory, and shouldCapture, along with performance safeguards and edge cases. There is no visible use of Qdrant, embeddings, Transformers.js, vector search, persistence, or memory recall in this chunk. Because the actual code’s primary purpose is materially different from the declared purpose, this is a clear description-behavior mismatch.

Missing User Warnings

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
97% confidence
Finding

When autoCapture is enabled, the skill scans user messages, selects content heuristically, embeds it, and stores it persistently without any user-facing notice or consent flow. In context, this is a memory plugin handling conversation history, so silent retention of user statements materially increases privacy risk, especially because the data can later be recalled and persisted to disk.

Known Vulnerable Dependency: sharp==0.32.6 — 2 advisory(ies): GHSA-f88m-g3jw-g9cj (sharp inherited vulnerabilities in libvips: CVE-2026-33327, CVE-2026-33328, CVE-); GHSA-rgj7-g3m4-5g8c (sharp: Vulnerabilities in libheif: GHSA-g89c-p67h-r497 and GHSA-2jg2-4ch7-h545)

High
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
84% confidence
Finding

sharp 0.32.6 inherits vulnerabilities from native image-processing libraries such as libvips/libheif. This becomes relevant if the skill handles attacker-supplied images or model assets that trigger image decoding, which is plausible because Transformers.js commonly depends on sharp for local preprocessing.

Known Vulnerable Dependency: undici==6.23.0 — 12 advisory(ies): CVE-2026-1525 (Undici has an HTTP Request/Response Smuggling issue); CVE-2026-6733 (undici vulnerable to HTTP response queue poisoning via keep-alive socket reuse); CVE-2026-1527 (Undici has CRLF Injection in undici via `upgrade` option) +9 more

High
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
89% confidence
Finding

undici 6.23.0 has multiple HTTP parsing/request smuggling and response-queue poisoning advisories. In this skill, networked access to a local or remote Qdrant service via @qdrant/js-client-rest makes the dependency materially relevant, so malformed upstream/downstream HTTP interactions could affect request integrity, data exposure, or service stability.

Confidence
85% confidence
Finding

The README is written entirely in Chinese and does not indicate that users may choose another language or that the locale restriction is intentional for a region-specific audience. Under the policy rule, forcing a specific language without user opt-in is a natural-language policy violation.

Intent-Code Divergence

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
97% confidence
Finding

The README earlier states that persistToDisk defaults to true and that memory-mode data is stored under ~/.openclaw-memory/ and restored after restart. But the FAQ answer at L244-L246 says memory-mode data is only saved during process runtime and must be re-indexed after restart, which is a direct contradiction in the documentation about actual behavior and storage semantics.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The plugin advertises itself as fully local with no API keys, but the first call to initialize embeddings may fetch the model from an external source. That can leak environment metadata such as IP address and usage timing, violate offline or air-gapped assumptions, and create a supply-chain trust boundary that is not disclosed to users.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
84% confidence
Finding

Multiple user-facing descriptions, command responses, and CLI messages are presented only in Chinese, while the file does not state that the skill is intended to be Chinese-only or region-specific. This can violate language/locale policy when a skill forces a specific language without user opt-in or documented justification.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
87% confidence
Finding

The forget tool deletes records immediately when a memoryId is supplied, with no confirmation step, authorization check, or undo capability. In an agent/tooling environment, accidental tool invocation, prompt-induced misuse, or mistaken IDs can permanently remove user data and degrade integrity of stored memory.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

This JavaScript test file uses Chinese throughout comments, log messages, and assertion strings, with no indication that language selection is optional or that the skill is intentionally region-specific. Under the stated policy, forcing a specific language without user opt-in is a natural-language policy violation.

Known Vulnerable Dependency: @protobufjs/utf8==1.1.0 — 1 advisory(ies): CVE-2026-44288 (protobufjs has overlong UTF-8 decoding)

Low
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence

Dependency has known vulnerabilities (CVEs). Using packages with unpatched security flaws exposes the environment to known exploits.

Content

Unpinned Dependencies

Low
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The dependency uses a caret range, which allows newer compatible releases to be installed over time. This can introduce supply-chain risk and non-reproducible builds if an upstream release is compromised or contains an unexpected breaking/security change. In a memory plugin that relies on external ML and database client libraries, dependency integrity matters because those packages process local data and run code in-process.

Finding

The Transformers.js package is specified with a caret range, permitting automatic uptake of future minor/patch releases. That increases supply-chain exposure and reduces build reproducibility; if a malicious or flawed upstream version is published, this plugin could import and execute it while handling semantic memory data locally.
