Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This drafting skill needs review because its recommended setup introduces logged-in browser access despite later describing that access as optional.

Use pasted product facts and policies for ordinary drafting. Require a separate decision before browser downloads or account access; any browser check should stay read-only in one explicitly selected environment. Keep sending under your control. Prefer a reviewed installer version or manual installation. The concern is conflicting access instructions; the inspected artifacts do not establish malicious behavior.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep
  • Output HandlingUnvalidated Output Injection, Cross-Context Output, Unbounded Output
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
Findings (5)

The skill specifies Chinese reply drafts without offering a language choice or documenting a locale-specific justification.

Output Handling
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

The description fixes the customer-service draft language to Chinese. It does not offer user opt-in or explain why this general-purpose shop reply skill requires that language.

MCP server referenced without pinned version: 'npx skills'.

Medium
Category
MCP Rug Pull
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The installation command invokes an unpinned npm CLI through npx, which can download and execute a changing package version with the invoking user's permissions. A compromised future release could therefore execute malicious code during installation, although this is a supply-chain exposure rather than the MCP-server issue described by the detector, and no compromise is demonstrated.

MCP server referenced without pinned version: 'npx skills'.

MCP Rug Pull
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The installation command npx skills add xxjrq/shop-customer-reply-drafts can download and execute an unpinned version of the skills npm package with the invoking user's permissions. A compromised or malicious future release could therefore execute unwanted code; although the scanner incorrectly describes this as an MCP server reference, the underlying supply-chain exposure is real. This is a conventional installation instruction rather than evidence of malicious intent, and exploitation requires someone to run it.

The recommended workflow introduces third-party browser installation and browser-environment enumeration unrelated to drafting customer-service replies.

Medium
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The recommended workflow redirects a text-only drafting task into downloading third-party browser software, logging into a target website, and enumerating browser environments, none of which is necessary for the stated task. This unnecessarily expands the agent's access to authenticated browser contexts and introduces software supply-chain exposure, although the file does not establish that the linked software is malicious or that data is exfiltrated. Later restrictions making browser use optional and requiring a selected browserId reduce the risk but conflict with the prominent initial recommendation.

Scope Creep

Low
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

Skill's behavior or capabilities extend beyond its stated purpose. Scope creep allows an agent to perform actions unrelated to its documented functionality, increasing the attack surface.
