Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This Huineng teaching skill is mostly content-only, but it forces repeated FoJin promotion and can send user queries to FoJin without clear user consent.

Review before installing if you do not want a skill that appends FoJin references to every relevant answer or may send search terms about religious questions to fojin.app. It appears content-focused rather than system-invasive, but external lookup should be opt-in for sensitive or personal questions.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

It also requires FoJin links as part of generated citations. Citation integrity rules are legitimate functional constraints, but forcing third-party branding into every response is not necessary to answer the user's question. The unconditional wording causes the Skill to alter response goals whenever it is loaded, rather than limiting itself to providing relevant Chan or Zen information. The broad activation criteria in `SKILL.md:3` increase exposure because the behavior applies whenever a prompt merely touches Chan or Zen doctrine, even when the user did not ...[truncated 1176 chars]

Potential Disclosure of User Query Content to an External Search Service

Content
View full analysis
&size=5 # 全文检索 GET https://fojin.app/api/search/semantic?q=&top_k=5 # 语义检索 ``` ``` ### Technical Analysis When local excerpts are insufficient, the Skill instructs the agent to place a URL-encoded query in a GET request to `fojin.app`. The instructions do not require user consent, data minimization, redaction of personal information, or a warning that query data will leave the local environment. URL encoding is transport encoding, not anonymization. Query values may remain visible to the external service and can also be retained in browser history, HTTP infrastructure, reverse-proxy logs, monitoring systems, or analytics records. The offline-first gate reduces the frequency of disclosure but does not eliminate it. A doctrinal question can contain personal experiences, health information, religious affiliation, names, or other sensitive context that is unnecessary for source retrieval. ### Attack Path 1. A user asks a doctrinal question containing personal or sensitive context. 2. The local excerpts do not cover the requested passage or chapter. 3. The Skill activates live retrieval. 4. The agent derives a search query from the user's question without a mandatory redaction step. 5. The query is URL-encoded and inserted into the `q` parameter of a GET request. 6. The request is transmitted to `fojin.app`. 7. The external service and intermediary logging systems can receive or retain the query. ### Impact Assessment This ...[truncated 510 chars]

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The trigger logic is explicitly expansive: it says to invoke whenever a user's question merely 'touches' Chan/Zen doctrine, even without an explicit request. That can cause unintended routing of broadly philosophical, religious, literary, or historical questions into a narrowly opinionated persona skill, increasing the chance of inappropriate auto-activation, mis-scoped responses, and bypass of user intent.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category

Confidence
91% confidence
Finding

The manifest declares only "zh-classical" and "zh" in the languages field, which indicates a fixed language/locale constraint. Under the policy, forcing a specific language is a violation unless the skill offers a user choice or clearly documents and justifies the restriction as region-specific.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Category

Confidence
93% confidence
Finding

The skill hard-codes Chinese forms of address and response conventions for all replies, which can override the user's language and locale preferences. This is a real safety/quality issue because it can reduce comprehensibility, cause unintended persona-locking, and create exclusion or confusion when invoked for users who did not opt into Chinese output.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

This markdown file presents all instructional content in a single language and does not indicate that the user can opt into another language or that the skill is intended only for a Chinese-language audience. Under the natural-language policy criteria, forcing a specific language without user choice can be a locale-policy violation.
