House Buying Advisor

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a coherent Chinese home-buying advice skill, but it tells users to show bank app balance screenshots to agents or sellers without privacy safeguards.

Review this skill carefully before installing. It can be useful for Chinese second-hand home-buying research, but do not share bank app screenshots, account identifiers, transaction history, or full balances with agents or sellers; use a redacted, purpose-limited proof-of-funds document or mortgage pre-approval instead.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Insecure Skill Coding PracticesFinds exploitable flaws such as hardcoded secrets or command injection
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Vulnerable Code Snippets

SKILL.md:208:

markdown
- Bring a screenshot of the bank application balance to give the agent and seller “certainty.”

references/negotiation-playbook.md:41:

markdown
- Prepare a “certainty signal”: a bank application balance screenshot or proof of funds.

The snippets above are faithful English translations of the affected instructions.

Technical Analysis

The Skill explicitly recommends showing a bank application balance screenshot to a real-estate agent and seller. A banking screenshot may expose substantially more information than is required to demonstrate purchasing capability, including:

  • The buyer's available balance and broader financial position
  • Account holder identity or partially displayed account identifiers
  • Bank and account-product information
  • Recent transaction details
  • QR codes, device notifications, or other information visible on the screen
  • Information that can be retained, redistributed, or combined with data from other sources

The instructions do not require redaction, recipient verification, secure transmission, limited retention, or minimum necessary disclosure. They also do not distinguish an official, purpose-limited proof-of-funds document from an unrestricted banking application screenshot.

This is an insecure information-handling practice under T09: Insecure Skill Coding Practices. Although the Skill does not itself extract or transmit banking data, it directs the user to expose sensitive financial information to parties who do not need unrestricted access to it.

Remediation Suggestions

  1. Remove all recommendations to display or transmit a banking application balance screenshot.

  2. Prefer an official and purpose-limited proof-of-funds letter, mortgage pre-approval, or escrow confirmation issued by a verified financial institution.

  3. Disclose only the minimum amount necessary to establish that sufficient funds are available.

  4. If documentary evidence must be shared, require redaction of:

    • Full and partial account numbers
    • Transaction history
    • Unnecessary balances
    • QR codes and barcodes
    • Customer identifiers
    • Device notifications
    • Authentication or session information
  5. Verify the recipient's identity and authority before sharing financial documentation.

  6. Use a secure, access-controlled transfer channel rather than ordinary messaging applications.

  7. State that recipients must not retain or redistribute the document beyond the transaction-verification purpose.

  8. Replace the affected instructions with guidance such as:

    markdown
Use a mortgage pre-approval or redacted, purpose-limited proof-of-funds document. Do not share banking application screenshots, account identifiers, transaction history, or balances exceeding the amount that must be demonstrated.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
88% confidence
Finding

The skill metadata and content are written entirely in Chinese and do not indicate language negotiation or fallback behavior. If the platform or user operates in another language, the skill may be invoked without clear comprehension, causing misunderstanding of financial, legal, or policy guidance in a high-stakes home-buying context.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The trigger list includes broad everyday terms such as 买房, 中介, and 贷款方案, which can cause the skill to activate in loosely related conversations. This increases the chance of unintended invocation, context hijacking, or the skill taking over conversations where the user did not intend to use a house-buying workflow.

Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

This markdown file contains user-facing instructions exclusively in Chinese, and there is no indication that the user can opt into another language or that the skill is intentionally limited to a Chinese-speaking or region-specific audience. Under the language/locale policy rule, forcing a specific language without user choice is a natural-language policy concern.
