Security audit

resume-story-spinr

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a local resume helper that reads user-provided resume and job-posting text and does not show hidden network, persistence, or destructive behavior.

Before installing, be aware that the tool will read the resume, bullet, and job-description files you point it at. Use it with files you intend to process locally, and review generated resume claims for accuracy before sending them to employers.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Behavioral ASTexec() Call, eval() Call, Dynamic Import
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

Without declared permissions the skill's intent is opaque and cannot be validated.

subprocess module call

Medium
Category
Dangerous Code Execution
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

subprocess module calls execute external commands. Without careful input validation, this enables command injection.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
80% confidence
Finding

This code reads full resume and job-description contents from user-supplied files, which commonly contain personal and employment information. While the operation is local and expected for the tool's purpose, there is no inline user-facing warning, prompt, or explicit disclosure near the file-processing path about handling sensitive resume data.
