Universal Translate

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a straightforward translation skill with expected file-translation behavior and no evidence of hidden execution, exfiltration, or persistence.

Before installing, understand that asking it to translate files may create translated copies in the workspace using language-code suffixes. Check for existing output files if overwrites matter, and provide an explicit target language when you do not want English.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep
Findings (2)

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
93% confidence
Finding

The instruction says to translate to English whenever the user does not specify a target language. This imposes a language preference by default rather than offering a user choice, which is a natural-language locale policy issue under the stated rules.

Missing User Warnings

Medium

Not specified by scanner
Confidence
87% confidence
Finding

The skill instructs the agent to read files and save translated outputs back into the workspace without any explicit confirmation step or warning that it will modify local files. In an agent setting, implicit file writes can cause unintended workspace changes, overwrite derived artifacts, or create privacy/compliance issues if sensitive content is translated and stored automatically.
