Security audit

Project Kickstart

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a straightforward project scaffolder that creates starter files and initializes git, with no evidence of hidden network access, credential handling, or deceptive behavior.

Install this if you want an agent to create new project boilerplate for you. Use it in an empty or clearly chosen directory, and review the generated files and initial git commit before building on them, especially because it applies defaults such as MIT license, Tailwind, TypeScript, CI, and a first commit.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category

Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The trigger list is broad enough to activate on common requests like 'create a new app', 'new project', or 'boilerplate', which can cause the skill to engage in contexts the user did not explicitly intend. In this skill, over-triggering is more risky because the behavior includes generating many files and initializing repositories, so accidental invocation can lead to unwanted workspace changes or misleadingly authoritative scaffolding choices.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

The skill states it will create files, generate repository structure, and always initialize git with a first commit, but it does not clearly warn the user that these are side-effecting operations. In context, this makes the skill more dangerous because it is designed to modify the workspace broadly, including CI files and version-control state, so a user may not realize they are authorizing persistent changes.
