Phở Verified Citations

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a citation-checking skill whose external tool use is disclosed and aligned with verifying academic references.

Before installing, understand that reference text and citation queries may be sent to the Phở Research Tools MCP server for verification. This is appropriate for citation checking, but avoid using it on confidential manuscripts unless that external processing is acceptable.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The activation description is broad enough to trigger on many ordinary writing, editing, or review tasks, which can cause the skill to engage outside narrowly citation-focused contexts. Over-broad activation increases the chance that external-tool-driven behavior or rigid citation rules are applied unexpectedly, creating unnecessary data exposure to the MCP server and reducing user control over when the skill is invoked.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
91% confidence
Finding

The instruction 'Query in English keywords' imposes a language choice as a rule rather than presenting it as an option based on user preference. This is a natural-language policy concern because it forces a specific language without documenting user choice or a justified locale constraint.
