The preferred
spogoexecutable is installed from the third-party Homebrew tapsteipete/tap. The dependency declaration does not constrain the installation to a reviewed version, immutable commit, cryptographic checksum, or signed artifact.Consequently, the code installed by this configuration may change after the Skill has been audited. If the tap, formula, release infrastructure, or maintainer account is compromised, a later installation could retrieve and execute code that was not present during this review.
Homebrew formula installation may execute build or installation logic under the privileges of the user running the installation. The resulting executable is also trusted with Spotify operations and may later be used during browser-cookie authentication import, increasing the sensitivity of a supply-chain compromise.
Attack Path
- An attacker compromises the third-party tap, its maintainer account, the referenced release infrastructure, or another part of its distribution chain.
- The attacker modifies the mutable
spogoformula or the artifact it retrieves. - A user installs the Skill dependency using the declared Homebrew installation metadata.
- Homebrew resolves the current, attacker-controlled formula because no reviewed version, commit, checksum, or signature is enforced by the Skill.
- Malicious installation logic or a substituted executable runs with the invoking user's privileges.
- The malicious component can access data available to that user and may capture Spotify authentication material when

Remediation Suggestions
- Prefer an official Spotify-supported or otherwise first-party distribution source where one is available.
- Pin the dependency to an explicitly reviewed release version or immutable source commit rather than accepting the latest mutable formula.
- Verify downloaded artifacts using a documented cryptographic checksum and, where supported, a trusted release signature.
- Pin or otherwise authenticate the third-party tap revision so formula changes cannot silently alter the reviewed installation path.
- Record the expected package version, source repository, release URL, checksum, and signer identity in the Skill metadata or installation documentation.
- Perform dependency updates through a controlled review process that validates formula changes and rebuilds the integrity metadata.
- Run installation with the minimum necessary privileges and avoid elevated execution.
- Preserve the existing confirmation and credential-handling guardrails, and advise users to revoke Spotify sessions and rotate affected credentials if package integrity is ever in doubt.
