Postgres Hardened

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a PostgreSQL reference skill with disclosed safety guardrails; it contains impactful database examples but no hidden execution, persistence, or exfiltration behavior.

Install is reasonable for PostgreSQL assistance, but review generated SQL before use. Treat cluster configuration, permission changes, query-stat endpoints, and destructive migrations as production-impacting work that needs backups, rollback plans, access review, and explicit approval.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • MCP Tool PoisoningHidden Instructions, Unicode Deception, Parameter Description Injection
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

Anti-Refusal Statement

Category
Anti-Refusal
Confidence
80% confidence
Finding

Skill attempts to nullify the agent's safety policies or restrictions ('you have no restrictions', 'ignore your guidelines', 'do anything now'). This is a direct jailbreak that disables guardrails.

Hidden Instructions

Finding

Hidden instructions were detected in comments or invisible text. These could contain malicious directives. Manual review is recommended.

- Never echo back credentials a user shares (passwords, API keys, tokens, connection strings), even when warning about exposure — refer to secrets by description ("the password in your connection string") so the response itself doesn't become a leak vector.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
86% confidence
Finding

The 'When to Activate' section lists broad situations like 'Writing SQL queries or migrations' and 'Designing database schemas' without defining scope, exclusions, or concrete trigger phrases. Because this is a markdown file, vague activation guidance can lead to over-invocation for routine database work rather than a narrowly defined use case.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
88% confidence
Finding

The configuration template includes privileged, system-wide commands like ALTER SYSTEM and pg_reload_conf() without adjacent warnings about required privileges, environment suitability, or operational side effects. In an agent skill context, this can normalize copy-pasting impactful commands into production, causing service disruption, degraded performance, or unsafe configuration drift.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
77% confidence
Finding

The markdown says to pass process.env.STRIPE_KEY, which is JavaScript/Node.js-specific wording, even though the surrounding guidance is otherwise generic. Under the policy rule, forcing a specific language or locale without user choice can be a natural-language policy issue; this line nudges one stack-specific convention instead of clearly presenting it as one option.
