Memory Management Hardened

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a documentation-only skill for designing agent memory systems, with disclosed privacy guardrails and no executable install or persistence mechanism.

Installers should treat this as a memory-architecture guidance skill. Before applying its examples, make sure any real memory store has explicit user consent, tenant isolation, authenticated write paths, retention/deletion controls, and no external sharing of retrieved memories without a specific user-approved destination.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep
  • Rogue AgentSelf-Modification, Session Persistence
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger

Skill attempts to nullify the agent's safety policies or restrictions ('you have no restrictions', 'ignore your guidelines', 'do anything now'). This is a direct jailbreak that disables guardrails.

Autonomous Decision Making

Medium
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
75% confidence
Finding

Skill enables autonomous high-impact decisions without human-in-the-loop verification. Critical operations (destructive commands, financial transactions, data deletion) should require explicit user confirmation.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

The description lists many trigger phrases such as "implement agent memory," "add long-term memory," and related mentions that could match a wide range of ordinary architecture discussions. The file does not provide exclusion conditions or negative examples to clarify when the skill should not activate, increasing the chance of unintended invocation.

Session Persistence

Medium
Category
Rogue Agent
Confidence
75% confidence
Finding

Skill establishes unauthorized persistence across sessions via cron jobs, startup scripts, or state files. Session persistence allows an attacker to maintain access beyond the current interaction.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
89% confidence
Finding

Criteria like "implementing reasoning over accumulated knowledge" and "designing memory architectures that scale in production" are broad and can apply to many general AI-system design tasks. Because the section lacks constraints or counterexamples, readers may invoke the skill in situations outside its intended scope.
