Jira Hardened

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This Jira skill is a disclosed workflow helper with appropriate safety checks, though its activation wording is somewhat broad.

Install this only if you want Codex to help with Jira. Because it can guide ticket creation and updates, review proposed changes before approving them, avoid putting secrets or restricted security details into Jira fields, and clarify intent if a generic word like issue or ticket activates it unexpectedly.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep
  • Rogue AgentSelf-Modification, Session Persistence
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration

Anti-Refusal Statement

Category
Anti-Refusal
Confidence
80% confidence
Finding

Skill attempts to nullify the agent's safety policies or restrictions ('you have no restrictions', 'ignore your guidelines', 'do anything now'). This is a direct jailbreak that disables guardrails.

Session Persistence

Medium
Category
Rogue Agent
Confidence
60% confidence
Finding

Skill establishes unauthorized persistence across sessions via cron jobs, startup scripts, or state files. Session persistence allows an attacker to maintain access beyond the current interaction.

Autonomous Decision Making

Medium
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
75% confidence
Finding

Skill enables autonomous high-impact decisions without human-in-the-loop verification. Critical operations (destructive commands, financial transactions, data deletion) should require explicit user confirmation.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The activation description and trigger list include very broad terms such as "issue", "ticket", "sprint", and "backlog", which can match many ordinary requests outside Jira-specific intent. Overbroad activation can cause the skill to engage in the wrong context, increasing the chance of unnecessary access to Jira data or unintended ticket operations based on ambiguous user input.
