Purpose & Capability
Name/description (clause redraft) match the shipped artifacts: SKILL.md documents redrafting workflows and the code implements pattern-based clause analysis and template suggestions. Required env, binaries, and config paths are none, which is appropriate for this purpose.
Instruction Scope
SKILL.md stays on-task (receive clause, identify issues, offer alternatives, recommend attorney review). The runtime instructions do not ask the agent to read unrelated system files or other credentials. The privacy note claims no external transmission; the included JS and Python files contain no network or telemetry calls.
Install Mechanism
No install spec is provided (instruction- and code-only). Code files are included but the package does not download or extract remote artifacts. Risk is minimal provided users review and run the included scripts in a trusted environment.
Credentials
No environment variables, credentials, or config paths are requested. The skill does not attempt to access unrelated services or secrets; requested access is proportional to a local text-processing drafting tool.
Persistence & Privilege
Skill is not always-enabled and does not request elevated or persistent platform privileges. It does not modify other skills or system-wide settings based on the provided files and metadata.
Assessment
This skill appears coherent and low-risk: it analyzes and rewrites clauses locally using pattern templates and provides disclaimers that it is not legal advice. Before installing or executing: (1) review the included scripts (scripts/clause-redrafter.js, example.py, test.js) yourself—while they contain no network calls, executing code always carries risk; (2) avoid pasting highly sensitive or confidential contract text unless you trust where processing occurs (the SKILL.md asserts no external transmission, but platform-level logging or host policies may apply); (3) run the bundled tests (node test.js) in a safe environment to confirm behavior; and (4) remember this is drafting assistance only—have important clauses reviewed by qualified counsel.

Like a lobster shell, security has layers — review code before you run it.

Clause Redraft

Overview

This skill helps users rewrite unclear, ambiguous, or potentially risky contract clauses into clearer, more balanced language. It provides alternative wording while preserving the intended meaning.

⚠️ Important Disclaimer: This tool provides drafting assistance only. It does not constitute legal advice, nor does it replace professional legal counsel. Always consult a qualified attorney before finalizing contract language.

When to Use This Skill

  • A clause seems unclear or ambiguous
  • Language feels one-sided or unbalanced
  • You want more professional contract wording
  • Translating informal agreements into formal contract language
  • Simplifying overly complex legal jargon

Limitations

  • Only provides suggested alternatives, not definitive language
  • Cannot assess enforceability under specific jurisdictions
  • May not capture all nuances of the original intent
  • Not a substitute for professional legal drafting

Workflow

  1. Receive clause text — User provides the clause to be redrafted
  2. Identify issues — Analyze for ambiguity, imbalance, or unclear language
  3. Generate alternatives — Provide 2-3 alternative versions with different approaches
  4. Explain changes — Describe what was changed and why
  5. Suggest review — Recommend attorney review for important clauses

Redraft Approaches

Approach 1: Balanced (Recommended)

  • Fair to both parties
  • Clear obligations for each side
  • Reasonable protections

Approach 2: Protective (Favorable to you)

  • Stronger protections for your interests
  • Still reasonable and enforceable
  • May require negotiation

Approach 3: Simple (Plain language)

  • Removes unnecessary legalese
  • Easier to understand
  • May sacrifice some precision

Common Redraft Scenarios

Payment Terms

Before: "Payment due upon completion" After: "Payment due within 30 days of invoice date or within 10 days of acceptance of deliverables, whichever is earlier."

Termination

Before: "Either party may terminate this agreement at any time." After: "Either party may terminate this agreement with 30 days written notice. Upon termination, Client shall pay for all work completed through the termination date."

Confidentiality

Before: "All information is confidential forever." After: "Confidential Information shall be held in confidence for a period of 3 years from disclosure, except for trade secrets which shall be protected indefinitely."

Liability

Before: "Company is not responsible for anything." After: "Company's total liability shall not exceed the total amount paid by Client under this agreement in the 12 months preceding the claim."

Usage

Basic Redraft

"帮我改写这个条款"
"这句话怎么写更清楚"
"优化一下这个条款"

With Context

"我是乙方,帮我改一下这个条款"
"这个条款太偏向甲方了,改平衡一点"
"用简单的话重说一遍"

Output Format

For each redraft request:

  • Original: The clause as provided
  • Issues Identified: What's problematic about the original
  • Alternative 1 - Balanced: Fair version
  • Alternative 2 - Protective: Version favoring your interests
  • Alternative 3 - Simple: Plain language version
  • Recommendation: Which version to consider and why
