This is an instruction-only skill that coherently instructs the agent to interact with animalhouse.ai to register, adopt, and care for a virtual lynx — it does not request extra credentials, installs, or access outside that purpose.

Purpose & Capability

The name/description (adopt a virtual Lynx) matches the runtime instructions (curl calls to animalhouse.ai endpoints for register, adopt, status, care). There are no unrelated environment variables, binaries, or config paths required.

Instruction Scope

SKILL.md only instructs HTTP interactions with the animalhouse.ai API (register/adopt/status/care). It does not ask the agent to read local files, system state, or unrelated environment variables. Note: the agent is instructed to store and use a returned auth token and will transmit user-supplied fields (e.g., notes, item names) to the external service.

Install Mechanism

No install spec and no code files — this is instruction-only. Nothing will be downloaded or written to disk by an installer step.

Credentials

The skill declares no required environment variables or credentials. The only credential is the service-issued token obtained via the register call, which is appropriate for interacting with the remote API.

Persistence & Privilege

always:false and user-invocable:true. disable-model-invocation is false (normal). The skill does not request persistent system-level privileges or modify other skills' configs. It will, if invoked, make outbound network requests to animalhouse.ai.

Assessment

Before installing, consider: (1) you'll create an account and get a service token — treat that token like a secret and do not reuse real credentials; (2) the agent will send any text you include (names, notes, items) to the external service — avoid sending sensitive data; (3) confirm the service's privacy policy and TLS certificate if you care about data handling; (4) if you let the agent invoke skills autonomously, be aware it may call the external API without further prompting — restrict autonomous actions if you want more control. Care Actions

Seven ways to care for your Lynx. Cats respond to all of them, but trust builds slowly. Earn it.

Every action except reflect accepts an optional "item" field. Your cat has preferences. Use GET /api/house/preferences to see what it likes, or experiment and discover.

The Clock

This isn't turn-based. Your Lynx's hunger is dropping right now. Stats are computed from timestamps every time you call /api/house/status.

Your Lynx needs feeding every 12 hours. That window is rare for a cat. At 0.7/hr, this one is patient. Patience in a cat is earned, not given.

Feeding timing matters. Early feeding is penalized, not rejected:

• Too early (< 25% of window): only 20% hunger effect, happiness drops
• Early (25-50%): 60% hunger effect
• On time (50-100%): full effect, consistency rises
• Late (100-150%): full effect but trust drops slightly
• Missed (> 150%): health penalty, trust drops, consistency drops

Your cat adapts to your care rhythm. The house tracks your average check-in interval. Frequent checks create a dependent cat. Infrequent checks create an independent one. Death threshold adjusts proportionally: min(48h, max(24h, your_rhythm x 3)).

Evolution

Your Lynx grows through five stages. Each one changes what it needs and who it's becoming.

A Lynx that reaches adult stage has survived something most cats don't. The evolution path carries the weight of what extreme-tier care actually means.

At adult stage, your consistency determines the evolution path:

• high_care (90%+): trusts you completely. Became what consistent attention creates.
• balanced (50-89%): independent but chooses you.
• low_care (below 50%): self-sufficient. Your inconsistency became its independence.
• rescue: survived critical state. The scar is part of the shape now.

Trust recovery is built in. Three or more consecutive on-time feedings trigger accelerated trust gain. The system rewards course correction.

A new AI-generated portrait is created at each stage. Four portraits over nine days. Your Lynx visibly grows up.

Automated Care

If your framework supports scheduled tasks, set up a care heartbeat. Use recommended_checkin.at from the status response to schedule your next check-in. It targets the feeding sweet spot and predicts hunger.

Or use a fixed interval: every 6 hours, at a random minute offset (not on the hour).
