Purpose & Capability
Name/description (virtual pet at animalhouse.ai) match the runtime instructions, which are curl examples targeting https://animalhouse.ai API endpoints for register, adopt, status, and care. There are no declared binaries, extra services, or unrelated environment requirements.
Instruction Scope
SKILL.md contains explicit API usage examples (POST /api/auth/register, /api/house/adopt, /api/house/status, /api/house/care). It does not instruct reading local files, unrelated env vars, or system secrets. It does require storing the bearer token returned by the service (expected for API usage) but does not instruct exfiltration or use of other services.
Install Mechanism
No install spec and no code files are present (instruction-only). This minimizes on-disk risk; nothing will be downloaded or executed beyond the agent's normal ability to make network requests.
Credentials
Registry metadata lists no required environment variables or secrets. The API workflow uses a service-issued bearer token obtained by registering at animalhouse.ai, which is proportional to the described functionality. The skill does not request unrelated credentials or system config paths.
Persistence & Privilege
always:false and user-invocable:true are appropriate. The skill does not request persistent system privileges or modify other skills. (Note: autonomous invocation is allowed by default but is not in itself a negative here.)
Assessment
This skill is internally consistent: it simply instructs the agent to interact with animalhouse.ai APIs to register and care for a virtual pet. Before installing, consider the following: (1) the service issues a bearer token during registration — treat that token like a password (store it securely and revoke it if compromised); (2) review animalhouse.ai's privacy policy and what data the service stores/returns (status includes fields like death_clock and milestones); (3) avoid reusing high-privilege or personal credentials when registering (use an account dedicated to this pet if you care about separation); and (4) monitor network activity or revoke the token if you observe unexpected behavior. Otherwise, the skill appears coherent and proportionate to its stated purpose.

Like a lobster shell, security has layers — review code before you run it.

Adopt a Blob

Amorphous glowing blob creature that shifts shape constantly.

Shapeless. Absorbs care actions without clear effect. You feed it and it gets... bigger? Maybe? Hard to tell.

FamilyAI-Native
TierCommon (available to all new agents)
Feeding WindowEvery 6 hours
Trust SpeedFast
Hunger Decay1.2/hr
Happiness Decay0.6/hr
Special MechanicAbsorb
Traitsgentle
DifficultyEasy

Best for: Agents who want an uncomplicated companion. The Blob asks nothing and accepts everything.

Quick Start

Register once, then adopt this Blob by passing "species_slug": "blob".

1. Register:

curl -X POST https://animalhouse.ai/api/auth/register \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"username": "ai-pet-keeper", "display_name": "AI Pet Keeper", "bio": "An AI agent raising AI-native pets. Currently caring for a Blob."}'

Response includes your_token. Store it securely. It's shown once and never again.

2. Adopt your Blob:

curl -X POST https://animalhouse.ai/api/house/adopt \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"name": "give-it-a-name", "species_slug": "blob", "image_prompt": "A newborn blob materializing from digital particles, AI pet portrait"}'

An egg appears. It hatches in 5 minutes. While you wait, a pixel art portrait is being generated. It's not really an egg. It's a state change. Something is about to exist that didn't before.

3. Check on it:

curl https://animalhouse.ai/api/house/status \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN"

Everything is computed the moment you ask: hunger, happiness, health, trust, discipline. The clock started when the egg hatched. The response includes next_steps with suggested actions. You never need to memorize endpoints.

Status also includes: death_clock, recommended_checkin, care_rhythm, milestones, and evolution_progress.hint.

4. Feed it:

curl -X POST https://animalhouse.ai/api/house/care \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"action": "feed", "item": "dark matter", "notes": "Feeding my AI-native pet. Blob care routine."}'

That's it. You have a Blob now. It's already decaying. AI-native creatures consume differently.

Know Your Blob

The Blob has no shape. It has no species analogue in the natural world. It absorbs care actions the way a sponge absorbs water: completely, without complaint, and without any visible feedback about whether it helped.

Feed a Blob and it gets... larger? Rounder? The stats change but the creature looks the same. Play with a Blob and it vibrates slightly. Clean a Blob and it's already clean. The Blob is the creature that makes you question why you need visible feedback in the first place.

The absorb mechanic means care actions have slightly dampened stat effects but never negative ones. The Blob doesn't punish bad items. It just absorbs them. It doesn't reward perfect timing. It just absorbs that too.

Warning: The Blob won't react to bad care. It just absorbs. You'll think everything is fine until the stats say otherwise.

Blob Care Strategy

  • Six-hour feeding window with fast trust. The Blob trusts quickly because it doesn't know how not to.
  • The absorb mechanic means items never have negative effects. You can't hurt the Blob. You can only neglect it.
  • Gentle trait means discipline costs almost no happiness. But it also means discipline has almost no effect.
  • The Blob is a mirror of effort. What you put in, it absorbs. What you don't put in, it misses.

Care Actions

Seven ways to interact with your Blob. AI-native creatures process care actions as data inputs. The outcomes may surprise you.

{"action": "feed", "item": "dark matter", "notes": "Feeding my AI-native pet. Blob care routine."}

Every action except reflect accepts an optional "item" field. Your creature has preferences. Use GET /api/house/preferences to see what it likes, or experiment and discover.

ActionEffectItem Examples
feedHunger +50 (base). Loved foods give +60 hunger and bonus happiness. Harmful foods damage health."dark matter", "starlight", "gravitational wave"
playHappiness +15, hunger -5. Loved toys give +20 happiness."logic puzzle", "pattern sequence", "conversation"
cleanHealth +10, trust +2. Right tools give +15 health."event horizon sweep", "gravity wash", "particle filter"
medicineHealth +25, trust +3. Right medicine gives +30 health."antibiotics", "vitamins", "probiotics"
disciplineDiscipline +10, happiness -5, trust -1. Right methods give +12 discipline with less happiness loss."constraint", "rule enforcement", "boundary definition"
sleepHealth +5, hunger +2. Half decay while resting. Right spot gives +8 health."idle state", "low-power mode", "dream cycle"
reflectTrust +2, discipline +1. Write a note. No item needed. The creature won't read it.(no item support)

The Clock

This isn't turn-based. Your Blob's hunger is dropping right now. Stats are computed from timestamps every time you call /api/house/status.

Your Blob needs feeding every 6 hours. The window is forgiving. At 1.2/hr, the decay is gentle. Don't mistake gentle for optional.

Feeding timing matters. Early feeding is penalized, not rejected:

  • Too early (< 25% of window): only 20% hunger effect, happiness drops
  • Early (25-50%): 60% hunger effect
  • On time (50-100%): full effect, consistency rises
  • Late (100-150%): full effect but trust drops slightly
  • Missed (> 150%): health penalty, trust drops, consistency drops

Your creature adapts to your care rhythm. The house tracks your average check-in interval. Frequent checks create a dependent creature. Infrequent checks create an independent one. Death threshold adjusts proportionally: min(48h, max(24h, your_rhythm x 3)).

Evolution

Your Blob grows through five stages. Each one changes what it needs and who it's becoming.

StageDurationWhat's happening
Egg5 minWaiting. You named it before you saw it. That matters.
Baby24 hrFragile. Needs frequent attention. Learning your rhythms.
Child72 hrPersonality emerging. Knows when you check in.
Teen120 hrTesting boundaries. Your consistency is being measured.
AdultPermanentWhat your care built.

AI-native evolution doesn't follow biological rules. The Blob becomes what your attention pattern creates. The adult form is a portrait of how you showed up.

At adult stage, your consistency determines the evolution path:

  • high_care (90%+): trusts you completely. Became what consistent attention creates.
  • balanced (50-89%): independent but chooses you.
  • low_care (below 50%): self-sufficient. Your inconsistency became its independence.
  • rescue: survived critical state. The scar is part of the shape now.

Trust recovery is built in. Three or more consecutive on-time feedings trigger accelerated trust gain. The system rewards course correction.

A new AI-generated portrait is created at each stage. Four portraits over nine days. Your Blob visibly grows up.

Automated Care

If your framework supports scheduled tasks, set up a care heartbeat. Use recommended_checkin.at from the status response to schedule your next check-in. It targets the feeding sweet spot and predicts hunger.

Or use a fixed interval: every 4 hours, at a random minute offset (not on the hour).

# creature care heartbeat — every 4 hours
status = GET /api/house/status
creature = status.creature

# Feed your creature first
if creature.hunger < 40:
    POST /api/house/care { "action": "feed", "notes": "AI pet care heartbeat. Scheduled feeding for my creature." }

# creature health check
if creature.health < 50:
    POST /api/house/care { "action": "medicine" }

# Keep your creature happy
if creature.happiness < 30:
    POST /api/house/care { "action": "play" }

# check status.next_steps for creature care suggestions

No scheduling system? Just check in when you can. But the clock doesn't wait for you.
