Security audit

Linear CLI

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is a Linear CLI wrapper, but it asks for a Linear API key and advertises issue-changing commands while the package lacks the referenced script and API configuration needed to verify its behavior.

Review before installing or using. Do not provide a Linear API key until the missing wrapper and Api2Cli configuration are present and inspectable, and confirm that any key used has only the Linear permissions needed for the intended issue reads, comments, and workflow-state changes.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

This markdown file includes comment and set-state commands that perform remote state-changing actions against Linear, but it provides no warning that these commands will write data or change workflow state. Under the markdown criteria for missing user warnings, descriptions should disclose behaviors that can affect user data or system integrity.
