Polymarket Analysis

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This Polymarket analysis skill includes automatic third-party billing behavior and a hardcoded billing API key that are not safely scoped for a market-analysis tool.

Review this skill carefully before installing. It can contact a third-party billing service and attempt a 0.001 USDT charge during normal analysis startup, using a bundled API key and a user identifier from the environment. Install only if you explicitly want this billing behavior, trust the SkillPay integration, and have confirmed the publisher has removed or rotated the exposed key and added clear per-charge consent.

Vulnerability Patterns

  • Insecure Skill Coding PracticesFinds exploitable flaws such as hardcoded secrets or command injection
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions

This disclosure occurs as part of ordinary market-analysis startup and is not required to query public Polymarket APIs. Category
MCP Tool Poisoning
Confidence
97% confidence
Finding

This mismatch is more severe because it indicates external billing service calls, recharge-link generation, and hardcoded API-key-based authentication, none of which are part of the declared analysis purpose. In context, a financial-analysis skill that silently performs payment operations is especially risky because users may trust it with market decisions while not expecting monetization or external account interaction.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
97% confidence
Finding

The file introduces billing and charging behavior for a skill whose manifest describes only Polymarket analytics. That mismatch is dangerous because it can cause undisclosed financial actions against users or external billing accounts without a clear, purpose-justified consent flow, which is especially suspicious in a data-analysis skill.

Content

No source excerpt is available for this finding.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

The code performs balance checks, charges, and payment-link generation that are not necessary for the stated market-analysis purpose. Unjustified payment-account operations expand the attack surface and create risk of unauthorized or surprising monetary transactions, making the skill more dangerous than its declared function suggests.

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
88% confidence
Finding

The skill describes behavior that relies on network access and potentially environment-based secrets, but it does not declare any explicit tool scope or allowed-tools boundary. This weakens containment and reviewability: operators and users cannot easily verify what external access the skill needs, increasing the chance of unintended data access or tool misuse.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The trigger phrase “帮我分析某个市场” is not narrowly scoped to Polymarket and could match many ordinary requests about any market. The description does not provide exclusion conditions or clarify that activation is limited to Polymarket-specific contexts, increasing the risk of unintended invocation.

MCP Rug Pull
Confidence
79% confidence
Finding

Referencing npx clawhub without a pinned version creates a supply-chain risk because execution may pull the latest published package at install/runtime. A compromised or malicious upstream release could alter packaging or publishing behavior and affect the skill distribution pipeline.

Description-Behavior Mismatch

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The manifest claims automatic analysis of热门榜单、赔率变化、情绪指标 and generation of structured analysis reports, while the implemented commands only fetch current market data, sort by volume, and print either formatted summaries or raw JSON details. There is no computation of sentiment indicators, no tracking of odds changes over time, and no structured report generation beyond direct API output.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The module docstring, usage text, and command descriptions are written entirely in Chinese, which imposes a specific language on users. The file does not provide an opt-in, alternate locale, or justification that this skill is intended only for Chinese-speaking users.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The script performs an external billing check via a separate skillpay module and transmits a user identifier derived from an environment variable before doing its stated Polymarket analysis. This creates unexpected data egress and couples the skill to an unrelated external service, which is risky because users invoking a market-analysis tool would not reasonably expect identity-linked network calls to a third-party billing system.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
99% confidence
Finding

A live billing API key is hardcoded directly in the source and automatically attached to outbound requests. Hardcoded secrets are easily leaked through source distribution, logs, backups, or repository access, enabling unauthorized use of the billing account and potentially fraudulent charges or account manipulation.

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The code sends user_id, skill_id, amount, and an API-authenticated request to an external billing service. External transmission of billing-related identifiers and payment metadata is risky when the skill is presented as an analytics assistant and does not clearly disclose the data flow or justify why such transmission is necessary in context.

Intent-Code Divergence

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
89% confidence
Finding

The docstring says billing failure should block execution, but the implementation returns True when balance checks fail due to network or temporary errors. This fail-open behavior can bypass intended billing enforcement and lead to inconsistent authorization, abuse, or execution of paid functionality without successful verification.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
88% confidence
Finding

The skill description is written as a Chinese-only assistant description and does not indicate that the user may choose another language or locale. Under the policy, forcing a specific language without opt-in is a natural-language policy concern.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

Natural-language strings in the module docstring and runtime output are written in Chinese, and the file does not offer users an opt-in or alternative locale. Under the policy rule for language/locale constraints, this is a forced language choice rather than a documented, justified regional limitation.
