Ahrefs Domain Rating Free

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a narrow Ahrefs Domain Rating lookup tool with a disclosed external API call and no evidence of hidden persistence, credential use, or destructive behavior.

Install through ClawHub when possible, or pin/review any npx-based installer before use. Expect user-supplied domains or URLs to be sent to Ahrefs, and avoid checking private or sensitive URLs if that disclosure is not acceptable.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Insecure DependenciesIntroduces malicious components through unsafe dependency sources
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Use package-locking and integrity verification where supported. Retain and verify registry integrity hashes for every executable package and transitive dependency. 4. Prefer an installation mechanism that does not download and immediately execute mutable remote code. A locally installed, reviewed, and locked CLI is safer than an unpinned `npx` invocation. 5. Review lifecycle scripts and the complete transitive dependency tree of the pinned package before recommending it. 6. Run installation commands under a non-privileged account in an isolated environment without unrelated credentials or sensitive environment variables. 7. Establish an upgrade process in which new package versions are reviewed and tested before documentation is updated to reference them. ]]>

MCP Rug Pull
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

npx commands without a version suffix (e.g. @1.0.0) create a rug-pull risk if the upstream server is compromised and publishes a malicious update.

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The skill instructs the agent to make outbound network requests but does not declare an explicit tool scope such as permissions or allowed-tools. That weakens least-privilege controls and can let a host agent invoke network-capable tooling without clear policy boundaries or user-visible authorization expectations.

MCP Rug Pull
Confidence
87% confidence
Finding

Using npx skills without pinning a specific version introduces supply-chain risk because the resolved package can change over time or be replaced by a malicious release. Anyone installing the skill later may execute unexpected code during bootstrap, outside the narrow Ahrefs functionality described in the skill.

Scope Creep

Low
Category
Excessive Agency
Confidence
70% confidence
Finding

Skill's behavior or capabilities extend beyond its stated purpose. Scope creep allows an agent to perform actions unrelated to its documented functionality, increasing the attack surface.
