pdf-extract-skill

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill gives expected local PDF extraction commands and security precautions, with no evidence of hidden or unrelated behavior.

Install only after verifying the opendataloader-pdf package source, use a virtual environment or container, pin versions, bind the hybrid backend to localhost for sensitive PDFs, and store extracted outputs in a folder with appropriate retention and access controls.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

This markdown skill file instructs the agent to run commands that write converted PDF contents to an output directory, which affects user data on disk. While file output is central to the skill's purpose, the description does not explicitly warn users that extracted content will be saved locally and may contain sensitive document data.
