Google Trends

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a straightforward Google Trends helper that fetches public trend data and does not show hidden data access or destructive behavior.

Install only if you are comfortable allowing the agent to fetch Google Trends pages and, if you choose to use the example schedule, to run that trend-checking workflow automatically. Review or constrain country codes and keywords in your own workflow if using shell commands in a shared or automated environment.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • MCP Least PrivilegeUnderdeclared Capability, Wildcard Permission, Missing Permission Declaration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The skill includes shell-based usage and scripts using tools like curl, grep, sed, and open, but it does not declare any explicit tool scope such as permissions or allowed-tools. This creates an authorization ambiguity where an agent or platform may permit broader tool execution than intended, increasing the risk of unintended network access or command execution if the skill is invoked in an automated context.
