Security audit

grepwrapper

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill's code-search purpose is clear, but it installs an unpinned third-party GitHub package globally, which creates a mutable supply-chain and persistent executable risk.

Review the upstream grepwrapper repository before installing. Prefer a pinned commit or verified package release, avoid global installation where possible, and consider installing in an isolated or least-privileged environment because npm install and the resulting binary can execute local code.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Insecure DependenciesIntroduces malicious components through unsafe dependency sources
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
