Security audit

monday

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is transparent about managing monday.com data, but it deserves review because setup can run unverified remote installer scripts and the connected account can be used for write and destructive actions.

Review the installer path before installing. Prefer a verified or package-manager installation of the oo CLI, and only allow write or destructive monday actions after checking the exact board, item, workspace, and payload the agent will send.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

External Script Fetching

Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

The skill instructs the agent to install software by piping a remotely fetched script directly into a shell (curl ... | bash). This is dangerous because it executes unverified network content with the user's privileges, enabling supply-chain compromise, MITM-related abuse in weaker environments, or malicious upstream changes to result in arbitrary code execution.

Finding

The skill description says to use this skill for ANY monday request, which creates an overly broad routing rule for a capability that includes both read and destructive operations. Broad auto-selection increases the chance the agent invokes a high-impact skill in contexts where a narrower or safer path should be chosen, especially because the allowed tool can execute state-changing commands against a connected account.
