Linear MCP

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is mostly coherent for read-only Linear access, but its fallback setup tells the agent/user to run an unverified remote installer script.

Review the OOMOL CLI installation path before using this skill. Prefer installing oo from a trusted package manager or verified release, and avoid pipe-to-shell setup unless you trust the source. Also confirm you are comfortable routing Linear data through OOMOL's connector service.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access

Finding

The skill instructs users to install software via a remote script piped directly into a shell, which executes unverified code from the network without inspection or integrity validation. If the install endpoint, transport, or upstream distribution is compromised, this can lead to arbitrary code execution on the user's machine.

Finding

The description mandates this skill for "ANY Linear MCP request," which is an unusually broad trigger phrase and does not define boundaries or exclusions for when the skill should or should not be invoked. Because it lacks negative examples or narrower constraints, it could overlap with many ordinary requests involving Linear and cause unintended invocation.
