Kagi Universal Summarizer

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is narrowly aimed at Kagi summarization, but its first-time setup tells the agent to install the OOMOL CLI by piping a remote script directly into a shell.

Review the setup step before installing. The normal Kagi summarization flow is narrow, but if the oo CLI is missing, do not let the agent run the remote install one-liner unless you trust the OOMOL installer source and are comfortable executing downloaded code with your local user privileges; prefer official installation guidance and integrity checks where available.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

Finding

The skill recommends installing software via a remote script piped directly into a shell (curl ... | bash), which executes unverified code from the network with the user's privileges. If the install endpoint, transport, DNS, or hosting account were compromised, this could lead to arbitrary code execution on the local system.

Finding

The description says to use this skill for "ANY Kagi Universal Summarizer request," which is broad and lacks clear boundaries or exclusion conditions. In a markdown skill description, this can create ambiguous activation behavior because it does not specify concrete trigger phrases, scope limits, or negative examples.
