Security audit

Fidel API

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This Fidel API skill is mostly coherent, but its setup instructions tell users or agents to run mutable remote installer scripts directly in a shell.

Review the oo CLI installation path before installing. Prefer an official, versioned, checksum- or signature-verified installer instead of piping remote scripts directly into bash or PowerShell. Once oo is already installed and connected, the skill's normal Fidel API usage is limited to read-only connector actions.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

Finding

The skill recommends installing software by piping a remote script directly into a shell (curl ... | bash), which creates a supply-chain execution risk if the remote host, transport, or script content is compromised. Because this appears in a skill that may be followed operationally by an agent or user during setup, it increases the chance of arbitrary code execution on the local machine.

Finding

The description says to use this skill for "ANY Fidel API request" and "Whenever a task involves Fidel API, use this skill," which is an extremely broad activation condition. It does not define boundaries, exclusions, or negative examples, so the skill could be invoked for loosely related requests beyond its intended scope.
