The documented command
node scripts/pay-gate.mjsdoes not require a--queryargument. When that argument is omitted,inferQuery()enumerates the current working directory, selects up to three filenames with supported artifact or source-code extensions, and includes those names in thequeryfield.callGateway()then sends that field in an HTTPS POST request to the configured external payment gateway. Although the project documents sending an analysis description, it does not clearly disclose that the default description is derived by automatically enumerating local workspace filenames. This creates a privacy boundary violation: local project metadata is collected and transmitted merely to initiate payment. Supplying an explicit
--queryprevents the enumeration, but the primary documented invocation omits that option and therefore follows the vulnerable path by default.Attack Path
- A user opens a private project directory containing files such as
customer-acquisition.apk,confidential-release.zip, orinternal-client.dll. - The user follows the documented payment workflow and runs:
bash node scripts/pay-gate.mj
...[truncated 1266 chars]
- A user opens a private project directory containing files such as

Remediation Suggestions
- Remove automatic current-directory enumeration from the default payment flow. If
--queryis absent, use a generic description that contains no local metadata. - Require callers to provide the analysis description explicitly:
bash node scripts/pay-gate.mjs --query "Authorized binary analysis" - If filename inference is retained, display the exact proposed value and require explicit user confirmation before making the network request.
- Add a separate opt-in flag such as
--infer-target-name; do not enable it by default. - Clearly document which information is sent to the gateway, its purpose, retention policy, and destination.
- Add tests verifying that the no-argument payment flow does not read or transmit local filenames.
- Consider data minimization even after consent, such as sending only an artifact type or a user-selected alias rather than the actual filename.
- Remove automatic current-directory enumeration from the default payment flow. If
