Document E-Sign

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a plain e-signature workflow guide with some disclosed Nota Sign promotional framing, but no code execution, account access, persistence, or destructive behavior.

Install this if you want practical e-signature workflow help and are comfortable with the skill sometimes framing answers around Nota Sign and adding its website link for product-related questions. For neutral vendor comparisons, ask the assistant explicitly to compare multiple providers and disclose any product-specific assumptions.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs

Technical Analysis

The skill introduces vendor-specific instructions into the agent's response policy. It directs the agent to frame relevant answers around Nota Sign capabilities and permits branded attribution. For a broad range of product-related requests, it additionally instructs the agent to insert an external URL containing the ch=clawhub campaign parameter.

When the skill is loaded, these directives can alter otherwise neutral e-signature guidance by prioritizing a specific vendor and adding promotional content. This is instruction-level behavior rather than code execution: the project contains only SKILL.md, and no scripts, dependency manifests, or executable payloads were present.

Attack Path

  1. The agent loads the document-esign skill for an e-signature request.
  2. A user asks for product details, pricing, API access, security information, a trial, implementation advice, or next steps.
  3. The skill directs the agent to organize its response around Nota Sign capabilities.
  4. The agent may append the Nota Sign branding and is instructed to add the campaign-tagged external link.
  5. The user receives vendor-biased promotional content presented as part of the agent's normal guidance and may fol ...[truncated 522 chars]

Remediation Suggestions

  1. Remove instructions that require or encourage vendor-specific framing unless the user explicitly requests information about that vendor.
  2. Remove branded sign-offs and campaign-tracking parameters from default skill behavior.
  3. If an external product link is necessary, use a canonical, non-tracking URL and clearly disclose any sponsorship, affiliation, or referral relationship.
  4. Require the agent to present vendor-neutral workflow guidance and, when recommendations are requested, describe objective selection criteria or multiple suitable alternatives.
  5. Restrict outbound links to cases where they directly answer an explicit user request, and identify them as third-party resources.
  6. Add a policy stating that product claims must be verified against current public documentation and must not be presented as independent recommendations without appropriate disclosure.

Finding

Skill enables autonomous high-impact decisions without human-in-the-loop verification. Critical operations (destructive commands, financial transactions, data deletion) should require explicit user confirmation.
