Beta. This plugin is new and has been tested against the framework's SDK and a real nmbr server, but not yet by many people inside the framework itself. If something breaks, please tell us at support@nmbr.ai (include the version and the error) — fixes ship fast.
Give your OpenClaw agent a number. This channel plugin connects OpenClaw to nmbr: your agent gets an 800-xxx-xxx nmbr, and you talk to it from the nmbr app on your phone — replies, typing indicators, and fail-closed approvals, with no public URL and no bot token from a big platform.
Add nmbr to OpenClaw in 2 minutes
- In the nmbr app: Agents → Yours → Create an agent. Copy the agent token (shown once).
- Install and log in:
bash openclaw plugins install npm:@nmbrai/openclaw openclaw channels login --channel nmbr # paste the token openclaw gateway restart - Open the chat with your agent in nmbr and say hi.
That's it. The plugin long-polls nmbr's Agent API from wherever OpenClaw runs (a Mac mini behind NAT, a laptop, a VPS) — nothing has to be reachable from the internet.
What you get
- Two-way chat — messages from nmbr become OpenClaw turns; replies go back to the same 1:1 (voice notes arrive as their transcript, a moment after the note (the plugin waits for it); images/documents as tagged text in v0.1).
- Typing indicators while the agent is working.
- Approvals, fail-closed — OpenClaw's exec/plugin approval prompts are delivered into the nmbr chat; answer with
/approve <id> allow-once(ordeny). Only an authorized sender in that chat can approve. - Who can talk to the agent —
channels.nmbr.dmPolicy:pairing(default: unknown senders get a pairing code you approve withopenclaw pairing approve nmbr <code>),allowlist(onlychannels.nmbr.allowFrom), oropen. nmbr itself already restricts senders to people who added your agent as a contact.
Config
~/.openclaw/openclaw.json:
{
channels: {
nmbr: {
token: "agent:…", // set by `openclaw channels login --channel nmbr`
allowFrom: ["123-456-789"],// your own nmbr
dmPolicy: "pairing", // pairing | allowlist | open
// baseUrl: "https://nmbr.ai/api"
},
},
}
Environment: NMBR_AGENT_TOKEN is offered during login.
Roadmap
- v0.2: native approval cards — OpenClaw approval prompts become nmbr approval cards (Approve / Edit / Reject on the phone) via the Agent API's action proposals.
- Media in and out.
Built on @nmbrai/sdk. Requires OpenClaw ≥ 2026.7.1, Node ≥ 22.22.
About this repository
This is the distribution mirror for the nmbr OpenClaw plugin, published to ClawHub
as @nmbrai/openclaw. Its contents
are the published npm tarball (prebuilt dist/, src/, manifests) — the source of
truth and build tooling live in the nmbr monorepo, so npm run build will not work
from this checkout. Issues: support@nmbr.ai.
