Status Page Gen

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill appears to be a legitimate status-page generator, but it deserves review because it encourages persistent background checks, public publishing, and unsafe shared temporary-file use.

Install only if you are comfortable with recurring network checks of your configured services. Prefer local/private hosting over public Gist for internal service status, avoid the provided shared /tmp paths, and do not run the scheduler as root. If enabling cron or LaunchAgent, review ownership and permissions, keep the skill directory protected, and record how to disable the scheduled job.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • System PersistenceInstalls backdoors, hooks, services, or scheduled tasks that survive the run
  • Insecure Skill Coding PracticesFinds exploitable flaws such as hardcoded secrets or command injection
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The trigger list includes very broad phrases such as 'status page', 'uptime', and 'health check', which can cause the skill to activate in situations where the user did not specifically intend to run this monitoring workflow. Unintended activation is more concerning here because the skill performs network probing of configured services and may guide users into scheduled persistence via cron.

Session Persistence

Medium
Category
Rogue Agent
Confidence
85% confidence
Finding

The skill explicitly instructs the user to install a cron job that runs every 5 minutes, creating persistent automated execution. While this is presented as normal monitoring setup, persistence mechanisms increase risk because they can continuously perform network activity and keep unsafe behavior active after the initial invocation.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The guide recommends publishing the generated status page via a public GitHub Gist and Gist-backed URL without warning that service names, URLs, uptime, and certificate status may become externally visible. This can leak internal infrastructure details and aid reconnaissance against self-hosted services, especially in a homelab or private network context.
