Security audit

nansen-limit-orders

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is coherent and not malicious, but it should be reviewed because it gives a credentialed agent broad Nansen CLI authority for real trading actions.

Install only if you trust nansen-cli and are comfortable letting the agent use your configured Nansen credentials for real limit-order and alert operations. Review proposed order details, wallet, token, amount, trigger price, slippage, expiry, and any alert destination before allowing commands to run.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Rogue AgentSelf-Modification, Session Persistence
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Session Persistence

Category
Rogue Agent

Finding

Skill establishes unauthorized persistence across sessions via cron jobs, startup scripts, or state files. Session persistence allows an attacker to maintain access beyond the current interaction.

- **Other chains → alert-based approximation.** `nansen-cli` does not yet place
native limit orders on EVM chains. Place the resting order on the venue that
supports it (CEX, DEX limit-order product) and create a companion
`common-token-transfer` smart alert on the settlement wallet as a best-effort
  fill signal.
