RedHat Code Review

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a straightforward code-review skill with no executable payload; the only issue is malformed trigger metadata that may affect when it activates.

Installers should correct the trigger metadata so the skill activates only for explicit code-review requests. Review any code you provide to it as you would with any code-review tool, but this package does not show hidden execution, persistence, credential use, or data exfiltration behavior.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Finding

The trigger configuration is effectively unspecified and appears serialized as a generic object array rather than a constrained set of activation phrases or conditions. In an agent skill, ambiguous triggers can cause unintended invocation across unrelated contexts, expanding the skill's execution surface and potentially enabling misuse or unsafe automatic behavior.
