Agent Templates System

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a documentation-only skill for OpenClaw agent templates, and its storage and workspace-writing behavior is disclosed and aligned with that purpose.

Install only if you are comfortable working with OpenClaw agent templates. Review template definitions before using create-from-template, especially included skills, workspace file modes, and memory seeds, because they can create or overwrite agent workspace content.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

This markdown file describes operations including deleting templates and creating agents, and elsewhere notes that the process updates config, creates workspaces, writes files, and seeds memory. Under the markdown-file criteria, the skill should warn users about behaviors that may affect user data or system integrity, but no cautionary note or disclosure is present.
