Token Saver 75+

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

The skill is openly for token saving, but it asks to become always-on and send all conversation context to spawned external models without clear limits or consent.

Install only if you are comfortable with an always-on rule that can route work to external model providers. Do not use it with secrets, personal data, proprietary code, regulated data, or confidential conversations unless you first change the instructions to send only task-minimum context and require explicit approval before spawning external models.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Insecure DependenciesIntroduces malicious components through unsafe dependency sources
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Once loaded, the Skill silently classifies every user request and imposes mandatory model-routing decisions. It also directs the Agent never to generate code itself and to delegate all such work to a specific external model. These instructions exceed what is minimally necessary to provide concise, token-efficient responses. Output compression can be implemented without taking persistent session-wide control of model selection, tool usage, or task execution. The Skill provides no exception for confidential requests, user-selected routing, unavailable providers, organizational policy, or higher-priority safety constraints. Although the files do not obtain operating-system privileges, the Skill acquires broad control over the Agent's decision-making and delegati ...[truncated 1447 chars]

The instruction does not require data minimization, secret detection, redaction, user consent, provider allowlisting, or an assessment of whether external processing is permitted. Complete conversation context may contain API keys, authentication tokens, personal information, proprietary source code, internal infrastructure details, regulated records, or unrelated confidential material. A spawned model generally requires only the subset of information relevant to its assigned subtask. Sending the entire context therefore violates least-disclosure principles and exceeds the minimum privileges necessary for token optimization and model routing. The reviewed files do not prove that a particular provider retains or misuses information. The vulnerability is the unconditional instruction to disclose all context without a sensitivity check or need-to-know limitation. ### Attack Path 1. Finding

The README instructs users to run npx clawhub install token-saver-75plus without pinning a specific package version. This creates a supply-chain risk because users may fetch a newer or compromised package at install time, and npx executes remote package code during installation. In a skill-distribution context, this is more dangerous because the command is presented as the standard installation path.

Skill enumerates or reads other installed skills. Access to other skills' SKILL.md files or the skills directory reveals prompt instructions, capabilities, and secrets that should be invisible to peer skills.

Vague Triggers

Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

Describing the skill as 'always-on' with no special command means it can silently influence all future interactions rather than only explicit, scoped invocations. This broad activation increases the chance of unintended behavior, user-confusing overrides, and persistent instruction interference across unrelated tasks. In this skill, that is especially relevant because it changes model routing, tool use, and response behavior globally.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
97% confidence
Finding

The recommended trigger phrases ('Optimize for token efficiency', 'Be dense', 'No fluff', 'Give me the minimal correct answer') are broad and likely to appear in ordinary conversation. That makes accidental activation plausible, allowing the skill to alter response style and tool behavior without clear user intent. Because the skill is framed as always-on, these triggers further blur activation boundaries rather than safely narrowing them.

Confidence
96% confidence
Finding

The skill explicitly instructs the agent to include ALL context in spawned task strings, which can propagate sensitive user data, hidden system prompts, tool outputs, credentials, or tenant-specific information to other models or providers. Because this skill is designed for routine cross-model routing, the exposure risk is amplified: unnecessary data sharing can occur by default across model boundaries, increasing privacy, compliance, and data-leakage impact.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
78% confidence
Finding

The README tells operators to make token optimization mandatory for every session and to follow the skill's classification for every request. This overrides normal user-controlled behavior and reduces transparency and consent, even if the goal is cost efficiency rather than direct abuse. In context, the danger is limited but real because it enforces a global response policy that may conflict with task needs or user preferences.
