Security audit

Update Advisor

Security checks across malware telemetry and agentic risk

Overview

The skill’s update workflow is mostly disclosed and coherent, but it deserves Review because it can modify OpenClaw, create temporary background recovery jobs, and its cleanup script trusts paths from a local state file.

Install only if you are comfortable with a skill that can update OpenClaw and briefly register a user-level recovery job. Use Check mode freely, but before Execute mode verify the target version, confirm the printed watchdog state file/job name, and make sure cleanup removes the temporary job and files afterward.

The trigger phrases are overly broad: terms like "check" and "upgrade" can appear in many unrelated conversations and may cause unintended activation of this skill. Because the skill includes an execute path that can launch persistent watchdog jobs and run `openclaw update`, accidental routing into this skill materially increases the chance of unwanted system changes.
