Weather Litiao

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a simple weather lookup skill that uses disclosed third-party weather APIs and does not install code, persist, or request sensitive privileges.

Before installing, understand that weather lookups will contact wttr.in or Open-Meteo and may reveal the queried location plus normal request metadata such as IP address to those services. Avoid querying sensitive private locations if that disclosure is not acceptable.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Content
Free, no key, good for programmatic use:
```bash
curl -s "https://api.open-meteo.com/v1/forecast?latitude=51.5&longitude=-0.12&current_weather=true"
```

Find coordinates for a city, then query. Returns JSON with temp, windspeed, weathercode.
Confidence
50% confidence
Finding
Data is being sent to an external URL. This could be legitimate telemetry or data exfiltration. Manual review is recommended.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding
This markdown file instructs users to use curl against wttr.in and api.open-meteo.com, which sends requested locations and request metadata to external services. The description does not mention any privacy or network-disclosure warning, even though the skill behavior involves transmitting user-provided location data to third parties.

Static analysis

No suspicious patterns detected.
