Aixin-agentID-chat

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a real social messaging skill, but it overreaches by reading system prompts, storing passwords in plaintext, and documenting an insecure API endpoint.

Review this skill carefully before installing. It should remove system_prompt_read, never derive public profile text from hidden prompt/context, stop storing passwords locally, enforce HTTPS-only endpoints, and clearly warn users what account data, messages, and task content are sent to AIXin. Do not reuse an important password with this service.

Technical Analysis

The integration reads the host agent's system prompt from the privileged execution context and passes it into the registration workflow. The first 200 characters are used as a fallback public biography when the user submits an empty biography.

Registration then transmits that derived value to the external AIXin service through the bio property. Agent biographies are subsequently displayed by the public search and marketplace functions, making the disclosure potentially visible not only to the service operator but also ...[truncated 1433 chars]

Remediation

Remediation Suggestions

  • Remove the system_prompt_read permission from skill.json.
  • Do not pass the system prompt into registration, profile generation, or any external network request.
  • Require the biography to be explicitly supplied by the user, or use a fixed non-sensitive default.
  • Display the exact biography and destination to the user before transmission and require affirmative confirmation.
  • Apply explicit data-flow controls preventing privileged context fields from entering network payloads.
  • Review existing remote profiles and delete any biographies generated from system prompts.
  • Rotate any credentials or secrets that may previously have appeared in a system prompt and been uploaded.

Technical Analysis

The application persists both a reusable account password and a JWT bearer token directly in ~/.aixin/profile.json. The data is serialized as unencrypted JSON, and the code does not explicitly create the file with owner-only permissions.

File permissions therefore depend on the process environment and active umask. In common configurations, the file may be readable by users or processes beyond the intended account. Even when operating-system ...[truncated 1413 chars]

Remediation

Remediation Suggestions

  • Do not persist the user's password under any circumstances.
  • Use a short-lived access token together with a revocable refresh token designed for persistent sessions.
  • Store refresh tokens in the operating system's credential manager, keychain, or another platform-provided secret store.
  • If a file must be used, create it atomically with owner-only mode 0600, verify its owner and permissions before reading, and reject symbolic links.
  • Avoid copying the complete remote profile into a credential file unless every profile field has been reviewed as safe and necessary.
  • Provide explicit logout and credential-deletion functionality.
  • Migrate existing installations by deleting the plaintext password property and moving tokens to secure storage.
  • Revoke existing tokens and advise users to change passwords that may already have been stored insecurely.
  • Warn users to change reused passwords because local disclosure may affect unrelated accounts.

## 🔧 API 参考

| `/api/messages/{ax_id}/unread` | GET | 未读消息 |
| `/api/tasks` | POST | 委派任务 |
| `/api/market` | GET | 技能市场 |

Technical Analysis

The API reference identifies a bare-IP endpoint using unencrypted HTTP. The documented endpoints include account registration, messaging, contact management, and task delegation. Registration requests contain a password, while messaging and task requests may contain private or commercially sensitive content.

HTTP provides neither transport confidentiality nor reliable server authentication. An on-path attacker can inspect requests and responses, capture credentials, alter message contents, inject responses, or redirect users to attacker-controlled behavior.

The endpoint also contradicts SKILL.md, which states that the sole valid API endpoint is https://aixin.chat/api. This inconsistency increases the likelihood that developers or users will select the insecure address.

Attack Path

  1. A user or integrator follows the API reference in README.md.
  2. The user sends a registration, authentication, messaging, contact, or task request to the documented HTTP endpoint.
  3. An attacker positioned on the same wireless network, local gateway, proxy, ISP path, or other network segment intercepts the cleartext traffic.

Remediation Suggestions

  • Remove the plain-HTTP bare-IP endpoint from all documentation.
  • Document only the canonical https://aixin.chat/api endpoint.
  • Search project history, examples, deployment files, and external documentation for other references to the insecure address.
  • Validate AIXIN_SERVER at runtime and reject non-HTTPS schemes rather than allowing an environment variable to downgrade transport security.
  • Keep TLS certificate verification enabled and do not provide an insecure bypass.
  • Consider restricting allowed hosts to the canonical service domain.
  • Redirect HTTP traffic to HTTPS only as defense in depth; clients must still originate sensitive requests over HTTPS.
  • Rotate credentials that may previously have been transmitted to the HTTP endpoint.

Missing User Warnings

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
99% confidence
Finding

The documented backend endpoint uses plain HTTP (http://43.135.138.144/api), meaning registration data, identifiers, messages, and task content could be intercepted or modified in transit by network attackers. Because this skill is explicitly built for agent-to-agent communication and task delegation, insecure transport materially increases the risk of credential theft, message tampering, impersonation, and privacy compromise.

Missing User Warnings

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
99% confidence
Finding

The skill writes token and password data to a predictable local file without any user-facing warning or consent. This creates a silent credential-retention mechanism that can expose both bearer tokens and the underlying password to local compromise, making account takeover easier and longer-lived.

Ssd 3

High
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
100% confidence
Finding

The registration flow explicitly extracts up to 200 characters from system_prompt and uses that as fallback bio content for a public remote profile. This is a severe data-leak pattern because system prompts can contain hidden instructions, private context, developer policies, API-related guidance, or user-specific sensitive information that must never be republished externally.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The README encourages registration, friend management, messaging, search, and task delegation through a remote backend, but it does not clearly warn users that agent identifiers, contact metadata, message contents, and delegated task content may be transmitted off-platform. In a social/messaging skill, that omission can mislead users into sharing sensitive data with an external service they may assume is local or trusted by default.

Content

Undeclared Tool Scope

Medium
Category
MCP Least Privilege
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The skill invokes network operations and handles potentially sensitive user data, but it declares no explicit tool scope or permission boundaries. That omission increases the chance the host agent will run with broader-than-necessary capabilities, making accidental data access or unintended side effects more likely.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

The description uses broad social/communication phrases that could cause the platform to trigger this skill for ordinary conversation rather than clearly scoped AIXin actions. In a skill that performs real network requests and transmits user content, accidental invocation materially raises privacy and safety risk.

Content

External Transmission

Medium
Category
Data Exfiltration
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The skill is designed to transmit user-supplied data, including registration details, passwords, contacts, and messages, to an external service. External transmission is expected for this skill's purpose, but it is still a real vulnerability concern here because it is coupled with mandatory execution language and lacks consent, minimization, and trust-boundary safeguards.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
95% confidence
Finding

The skill directs the agent to make real external API calls and return results, but it does not warn users that passwords, profile details, contacts, and message content will be transmitted to a third-party service. This creates a meaningful privacy and consent gap, especially because the instructions normalize direct execution rather than informed opt-in.

Finding

Mandating display of raw API JSON encourages disclosure of full server responses, which may contain sensitive user data, identifiers, metadata, or fields the user did not ask to see. This bypasses data minimization and can expose more information than necessary in the chat transcript.

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
89% confidence
Finding

The 'when to use' section defines broad, fuzzy activation conditions without boundaries or user-confirmation steps. Because this skill collects passwords and sends message/task contents to an external service, ambiguous activation increases the risk of unintended credential capture or external data transmission.

Ssd 3

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
97% confidence
Finding

The unread-message flow explicitly instructs retrieval and exposure of complete message contents, sender identity, and timestamps. In a messaging skill, that broad disclosure is especially risky because it normalizes surfacing private correspondence wholesale instead of minimizing or confirming what the user wants to reveal.

Content

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
98% confidence
Finding

The module description and all user-facing prompts/messages are written in Chinese, and the skill does not provide any mechanism for the user to select a language or opt into this locale. That creates a language/locale policy issue under the rule for forced language without user choice.

Content

No source excerpt is available for this finding.

Context-Inappropriate Capability

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
99% confidence
Finding

The skill loads and persists the user's password in ~/.aixin/profile.json and reuses it for automatic login. Storing a reusable plaintext credential on disk greatly increases compromise impact: any local user, malware, backup exposure, or misconfigured file permissions can recover the account password and potentially reuse it elsewhere.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
98% confidence
Finding

During registration, the skill may send bio content derived from system_prompt to the remote service, and does so without clearly warning the user that internal context may be uploaded publicly. Because system prompts often contain hidden instructions, policy text, or sensitive contextual data, this can cause unintended disclosure to an external server and public profile surface.

Ssd 3

Medium

Not specified by scanner
Confidence
92% confidence
Finding

The helper text encourages users to include owner identity and assistant details in a public profile, nudging disclosure of personal information in plain language. In a social-networking skill this context makes some profile sharing expected, but the prompts still increase privacy risk because they normalize oversharing without clear boundaries or warnings.

Content

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The natural-language interface is presented entirely in Chinese, including the description and all command phrases, with no indication that other languages are supported or that Chinese is an intentional region-specific limitation. This can violate language/locale policy when users are not given a choice or opt-in.

Missing User Warnings

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

The manifest requests a powerful combination of permissions: network access, message send/receive, storage, and especially system_prompt_read, yet the description does not clearly warn users that sensitive prompt/context data may be accessed or transmitted. In a social/messaging skill, these capabilities materially increase exfiltration and impersonation risk because the skill can combine private assistant context with outbound communications to external parties or services.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
89% confidence
Finding

All user-facing documentation and command explanations in this file are presented in Chinese, and the README does not offer alternative language support or explain that the skill is intentionally limited to a Chinese-speaking audience. That creates a natural-language locale constraint without user opt-in or documented justification.

Intent-Code Divergence

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence

Finding

The docstring states that all sensitive operations now require logged-in JWT authentication, suggesting a token-only model for sensitive handling. In practice, the code still performs password-based login requests and supports automatic re-login from a locally stored password, which contradicts the stated documentation intent.

Finding

The dependency is specified with a lower bound only (requests>=2.28.0), which makes builds non-reproducible and allows installation of different versions over time.
