Termux Persistent Gateway

Security checks across malware telemetry and agentic risk

Overview

This skill openly helps keep a user-chosen Termux gateway running in the background, and the persistence behavior is disclosed and aligned with that purpose.

Before installing, set GATEWAY_CMD and SCRIPT to trusted commands and paths, understand that wake-lock plus boot/cron restart can keep your phone active and drain battery, and review logs for sensitive gateway output. Remove the Termux:Boot script, cron entry, and wake lock if you no longer want it running persistently.

Finding
The README explicitly promotes persistent background execution, wake locks, boot auto-start, and automatic health monitoring, but it does not clearly warn users about battery drain, device performance impact, or the security/privacy implications of keeping an agent gateway always running. In an Android/Termux context, these behaviors increase persistence and reduce user visibility, which can normalize risky deployment patterns and make misuse or accidental overreach more likely.
