Crypto Trading Bot Playbook

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a non-executable crypto trading bot guide, but it promotes automated real-money trading and selling bots with very limited risk, security, and compliance guidance.

Read this carefully before installing or using it. It does not appear to contain malware or executable code, but its guidance concerns automated cryptocurrency trading, which can lose money quickly and may expose exchange API keys or client funds if implemented poorly. Use paper trading first, restrict API keys, set strict position and loss limits, add monitoring and kill switches, and get legal or compliance advice before selling or operating bots for others.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding

The skill encourages building, deploying, and selling automated crypto trading bots while only providing a minimal generic risk warning. This can mislead users into underestimating material risks such as financial loss, API key compromise, exchange failure, rate-limit bans, runaway trading behavior, and compliance issues tied to automated trading and client deployments.
