Security audit

Internet Search

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a straightforward guide for using an internet search tool and does not add hidden execution, persistence, or privileged access.

Installers should treat this as a benign search-usage guide. Avoid sending secrets, private documents, or sensitive personal details in search queries unless the configured SearXNG instance and upstream routing are acceptable for that data.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Vague Triggers

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The description says to 'Use whenever web search is needed' and includes very broad contexts like 'research' and 'community opinions' without defining boundaries or explicit trigger phrases. This can overlap with common user requests and makes it unclear when the skill should activate versus when general model knowledge should be used.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Confidence

Finding

The natural-language example presents a language-constrained search modifier (':fr') as supported syntax, but does not state that language selection should follow user preference. While not a hard requirement by itself, this can encourage locale-specific behavior without explicit opt-in.
