Security audit

IMDb Base Info API

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a focused IMDb lookup tool, but it handles the JustOneAPI token in ways that can expose it through command lines and request URLs.

Review this before installing if the JustOneAPI token protects paid quota or sensitive account access. Use a narrowly scoped or disposable token if available, rotate it regularly, avoid running it on shared systems where process arguments may be visible, and be aware that the token is sent in the request URL to JustOneAPI.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Insecure Skill Coding PracticesFinds exploitable flaws such as hardcoded secrets or command injection
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Undeclared Tool Scope

Finding

The skill invokes a network-capable helper (node .../bin/run.mjs) and is explicitly designed to call an external API, but it does not declare any corresponding tool scope such as permissions or allowed-tools. This weakens least-privilege controls and makes the skill's external communication capabilities implicit rather than auditable, which can enable unintended outbound requests or make policy enforcement harder in agent runtimes.

Finding

The skill defines the authentication token as a query parameter and later appends all query parameters directly to the URL, causing the credential to be sent in the request URI. Query-string tokens are commonly exposed through logs, browser/history layers, proxy infrastructure, monitoring tools, and error reporting, which increases the chance of credential leakage even when HTTPS is used.

Finding

The API design requires the authentication token to be sent in the URL query string, which increases the chance of credential exposure through browser history, intermediary logs, analytics systems, reverse proxies, and server access logs. Even when HTTPS is used, query parameters are commonly recorded more broadly than headers, so this creates avoidable token leakage risk for any user of the skill.
