Security audit

Github Trending

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill simply fetches public GitHub Trending data and does not show credential access, persistence, or destructive behavior.

Install this if you are comfortable with a user-invoked command contacting GitHub's public trending page and producing Chinese-language output. It does not require credentials or make persistent system changes.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep
Findings (4)

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Medium
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
94% confidence
Finding

Multiple user-facing strings, including the title, usage text, and period labels, are hardcoded in Chinese. The policy requires avoiding forced language or locale unless the skill offers a language choice or clearly documents a justified locale constraint.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
90% confidence
Finding

The natural-language content of the skill forces a specific language for all user-facing instructions and descriptions. Under the policy, language constraints should be opt-in or clearly justified as region-specific, but this file provides neither.

External Script Fetching

Low
Category
Supply Chain
Confidence
15% confidence
Finding

Remote code is downloaded and executed. This bypasses code review and could introduce malicious code.

Missing User Warnings

Low
Category
Not specified by scanner
Confidence
84% confidence
Finding

This shell script makes an outbound HTTP request to github.com to retrieve trending data, which is a network operation covered by the missing-warning rule for code files. Although the script's purpose implies fetching remote content, the file does not include an explicit user-facing notice, confirmation, or explanatory comment about contacting GitHub.
