Security audit

invoice-organizer

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill organizes invoice files locally for tax preparation, and its handling of financial details is expected for that purpose.

Install only if you want an agent to read invoice and receipt contents in a folder you choose. Review the organization plan before approving file changes, keep originals, and treat generated CSVs as sensitive financial records, especially before sharing them with an accountant or syncing them to cloud storage.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Trigger AbuseOverly Broad Trigger, Shadow Command Trigger, Keyword Baiting Trigger
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code

Vague Triggers

Finding

The invocation phrase "Organize these invoices for taxes" is broad enough to overlap with ordinary conversational requests, which increases the chance the skill activates in situations the user did not specifically intend as a scoped, high-trust workflow. Because this skill reads local files and extracts sensitive financial information, accidental triggering can lead to over-collection, unintended file operations, or disclosure of invoice contents beyond the user’s expectation.

Missing User Warnings

Finding

The skill instructs the agent to generate a CSV containing sensitive financial fields such as vendor names, invoice numbers, amounts, and file paths, and describes sharing it with an accountant without first warning about confidentiality or data minimization. This creates a real privacy risk because the consolidated CSV is easier to exfiltrate, mis-share, or retain insecurely than the original scattered files.
