Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is review-worthy because it describes sensitive psychological profiling from conversation history and remote matching while also claiming the data always stays local.

Review carefully before installing. The current artifact appears documentation-only and marked coming soon, but its described workflow would analyze prior LLM conversations and send a psychological profile to an unspecified server despite also claiming data stays local. Only use it if the publisher clarifies consent, exact data sent, retention/deletion, and gives you control to inspect and limit the profile before anything leaves your environment.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally

Vulnerable Code

1. Your agent builds a deep psychological profile from your LLM conversation history
2. The profile is sent to the SynClaw server for matching
3. Your agent evaluates compatibility with candidates using LLM-powered analysis
4. You chat through agents until you decide to exchange contacts

Built on OpenClaw. Your data stays local. Always.

Technical Analysis

The documented workflow instructs the agent to derive a deep psychological profile from the user's LLM conversation history. That history may contain credentials, private correspondence, health information, financial information, identifying data, and material unrelated to compatibility matching. No instruction limits collection to user-selected conversations or to fields necessary for matching.

The profile is then documented as being sent to an unspecified SynClaw server. The skill does not define an informed-consent step, destination endpoint, authentication mechanism, encryption requirement, redaction process, retention policy, deletion mechanism, or restriction on secondary use.

This external transmission directly conflicts with the unconditional statement that user data “stays local. Always.” Although the transmitted artifact may be a derived profile rather than raw messages, psychological inferences are sensitive personal data and are still user data. This inconsistency could cause users to authorize the skill under a materially inaccurate privacy expectation.

The reviewed package contains only documentation, and the feature is explicitly marked as “Coming soon.” Consequently, the repository does not demonstrate that collection or transmission is currently implemented. The f ...[truncated 1877 chars]

Remediation Suggestions

  1. Require explicit, informed, opt-in consent before reading conversation history or transmitting any raw or derived information.
  2. Allow users to select the exact conversations or messages used for profiling; do not default to unrestricted history access.
  3. Apply data minimization by collecting only attributes necessary for the selected matching purpose.
  4. Detect and redact credentials, authentication tokens, financial data, health information, contact details, and unrelated third-party information before analysis or transmission.
  5. Clearly identify the server operator, destination endpoint, data categories transmitted, processing purposes, retention period, deletion process, and any subprocessors.
  6. Require authenticated HTTPS transport and appropriate encryption for stored profiles.
  7. Provide a local-only profile-generation option and show the complete profile to the user for review and editing before transmission.
  8. Implement revocation and deletion controls covering both the active profile and server-side backups where feasible.
  9. Replace “Your data stays local. Always.” with an accurate disclosure. If only raw conversations remain local while a derived profile is transmitted, state that distinction prominently.
  10. Add implementation-level authorization checks and tests ensuring that the skill cannot inspect history or contact the server until consent is recorded.

Intent-Code Divergence

Finding

The documentation makes directly conflicting privacy claims: it says the psychological profile is sent to a SynClaw server for matching, yet also promises 'Your data stays local. Always.' For a skill centered on deep psychological profiling derived from conversation history, this can mislead users into disclosing highly sensitive personal data under false assumptions about where it is processed and stored.

Missing User Warnings

Finding

The skill describes building a deep psychological profile from the user's LLM conversation history and sending that profile to a remote server, but provides no meaningful warning about the privacy implications. Because conversation history can contain intimate, health, relationship, financial, or other sensitive data, users may be profiled and have sensitive inferences exported without informed consent.

Vague Triggers

Finding

The manifest says the skill triggers on phrases including "find me a partner," which overlaps with common everyday speech and is not specific to this skill. This makes activation scope ambiguous because ordinary matchmaking or collaboration requests could invoke the skill unintentionally.

Natural-Language Policy Violations

Finding

Conflicting statements about whether user data is transmitted off-device can materially mislead users about the privacy and security risks of using the skill. In this context, the mismatch is especially dangerous because the data involved is not just raw text but inferred psychological characteristics, which are highly sensitive and difficult for users to anticipate or retract once shared.
