Security audit

Bar Exam

Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This is a disclosed bar exam study assistant that stores progress locally, with no evidence of hidden execution, network activity, or unrelated access.

Before installing, be aware that the skill may create and maintain study records in ~/bar-exam/. Avoid storing unnecessary sensitive details there, especially on shared machines, and delete the folder when you no longer want the local study history retained.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding
The skill explicitly stores persistent user study data under ~/bar-exam/, including profile details, essays, practice history, and feedback, but provides no privacy notice, retention guidance, access controls, or data-minimization rules. While this is not an active exploit by itself, it creates unnecessary exposure of potentially sensitive educational and personal data on disk, especially on shared or unmanaged systems.

Static analysis

No suspicious patterns detected.
