Security checks for vulnerabilities and agentic risk

Overview

This skill is a simple app recommendation helper that stores app preferences locally in a clearly named folder.

Before installing, understand that the agent may keep app preferences and app history in ~/apps/. Avoid storing sensitive notes there, and review or delete those files if you no longer want that preference history retained.

Vulnerability Patterns
  • Skill Instruction HijackingAlters the agent's session goals or safety constraints when the skill loads
  • Agent Memory PoisoningWrites attacker-controlled rules into memory that affect later sessions
  • Remote Payload Retrieval and ExecutionFetches external code whose behavior can change after review
  • Embedded Malicious CodeShips malicious scripts inside the skill and executes them locally
  • Unauthorized Access and Privilege EscalationObtains permissions beyond the task's legitimate needs
Vulnerability Patterns
  • Prompt InjectionInstruction Override, Hidden Instructions, Exfiltration Commands
  • Data ExfiltrationExternal Transmission, Env Variable Harvesting, File System Enumeration
  • Privilege EscalationExcessive Permissions, Sudo/Root Execution, Credential Access
  • Supply ChainUnpinned Dependencies, External Script Fetching, Obfuscated Code
  • Excessive AgencyUnrestricted Tool Access, Autonomous Decision Making, Scope Creep

Finding
The skill explicitly persists user preference data such as platforms, dislikes, favorites, and app history under ~/apps/ without any notice, consent flow, retention policy, or guidance on protecting that data. While the data is not highly sensitive by default, it can still reveal behavioral preferences and personal habits, and local plaintext storage increases exposure to other local users, backups, or malware on the host.
