Use this Skill when a user supplies a document and asks what it requires, where a statement appears, or how two passages differ. The helper returns actual text and line numbers. The connected model turns those passages into an answer and checks each citation against the returned text.

Establish the document and the question

Confirm the selected file or attachment. Resolve ambiguous references such as “this notice” before reading another file. Typical requests include 报名截止日期、所需材料、申请条件、条款对比 and action items. Record the user's exact question so a general summary does not replace a requested deadline or exception.

The local reader accepts workspace-relative .txt, .md, .csv, .tsv, .json and .log files encoded as UTF-8, at most 2 MiB each. It reads the file without modifying it. For a PDF, Word document or image, first use a reader already available in the host. Preserve page numbers and extraction provenance. If no appropriate reader exists, ask for a text export or the required reader; the bundled helper does not parse those binary formats.

Find the evidence, including qualifying passages

1. Read the opening section to identify the document, structure and scope. A read input uses file, a one-based start, and limit between 1 and 200. The default is 60 returned lines.
2. Search for a concrete phrase using search, file, query and limit. Matching is literal, case-insensitive and Unicode-normalized; queries are not regular expressions. Search synonyms separately when the document uses different wording.
3. Read the paragraphs surrounding a match. Check exclusions, footnotes, definitions and conditions before converting a sentence into advice. A later clause can qualify an earlier deadline.
4. Inspect totalLines, matches, returned and truncated. Read successive ranges when needed. lineTruncated: true means a line exceeds the 2,000-character display cap; inspect the complete line with a permitted file reader before quoting it as complete.
5. For a whole-document summary, cover every relevant range or explicitly identify the inspected sections. A search with no results establishes only that the literal query was absent.

Run a deadline lookup

Create read-request.json in the current agent workspace using the host's file-writing tool:

For the bundled fictional notice, copy samples/notice.txt into that workspace first. The matching passage is on line 2 and says the application closes on 2026-11-01. Answer with an auditable citation

• State the requested finding first, then quote the short supporting passage and cite relative/file.md:LINE or a line range in prose.
• When comparing clauses, show both source locations and distinguish changed wording, changed numbers and changed obligations.
• For extracted PDFs, cite original pages only when the extraction retained the mapping. Otherwise identify the extracted text file and its line numbers.
• Keep facts from the source separate from suggested next steps. Report a missing deadline as “the inspected passages do not specify it” instead of inventing a date.
• Save a requested report through the host file tool, then verify that the saved file contains the answer and citations. The reader itself returns JSON; it does not automatically create a finished report.

File access and recovery

Use only the active agent's authorized workspace. The helper rejects absolute paths, parent traversal, linked paths, binary data and invalid UTF-8. For a missing file, correct the selected path. For an oversized document, prepare smaller text exports that retain their original section or page map. Keep user text in JSON, not in an executable command string. No network access, model key or MochiLab key is required by the reader; model usage follows the agent's configured provider.
