Feedback Delivery Tips
DO ✓
- Be specific—give concrete examples
- Focus on behavior, not personality
- Own your perspective ("I observed..." vs. "Everyone thinks...")
- Give feedback soon after the event
- Offer actionable suggestions
- Check in on progress later
DON'T ✗
- Use "always" or "never" statements
- Make it personal or attack character
- Give feedback when emotional (yours or theirs)
- Make it a surprise—context matters
- Focus only on problems—balance with positives
- Expect immediate change—feedback takes time
